Has there been any verification of the story? The Grand Old Lady ain't so grand any longer in her reporting. No one is willing to be named to verify that this actually happened.

Following the money...
Suspicions of Russian Bounties Were Bolstered by Data on Financial Transfers
American officials intercepted electronic data showing large financial transfers from a bank account controlled by Russia’s military intelligence agency to a Taliban-linked account, evidence that supported their conclusion that Russia covertly offered bounties for killing U.S. and coalition troops in Afghanistan, according to three officials familiar with the intelligence.
Though the United States has accused Russia of providing general support to the Taliban before, analysts concluded from other intelligence that the transfers were most likely part of a bounty program that detainees described during interrogations.
Investigators also identified by name numerous Afghans in a network linked to the suspected Russian operation, the officials said — including, two of them added, a man believed to have served as an intermediary for distributing some of the funds and who is now thought to be in Russia.

So now they're parsing his words to give him cover. Of course. AND he has still done NOTHING.

However, the money doesn't necessarily point to bounty payments; see NSA dissent.

That actually has nothing to do with this. The question is: Was this information presented to the President? YES, apparently, it was. Has he done ANYTHING about this or addressed this in any way? The answer is NO.

Trump promised to bring out troops home.
He omitted to say they'd be in pine boxes.

I heard White House leaders are meeting with the Gang of Eight tomorrow in a classified briefing to further discuss this issue. They sure are having a lot of classified briefings with top leadership in both parties for something that is a "big ole nuthin' burger."

Russians tell him they didn't do it, he believes THEM. Greg There isn't even agreement among the IC about whether or not they did it. Russia has been supplying arms and funding to the Taliban since at least 2017. That is neither surprising nor something we necessarily need to respond to. What isn't clear - and additional reporting hasn't made it any clearer - is whether or not any of that funding was used for bounties.

Then why doesn't Trump, at the very least have said to anyone in the Intelligence Community "Find out about this". That has not happened.

Hasn't everyone been saying that they're still investigating?

Hasn't everyone been saying that they're still investigating? Hasn't everyone been saying Russians are paying $100,000 per corpse to kill American service members? You telling me no one told the Commander in chief? You telling me it wasn't worth telling him until they had more evidence. You telling me the money transfers from the Russians to a middleman to be paid to Afghans wasn't worth telling the president. Actually, they DID tell the president. He did nothing. He is still doing NOTHING.
