And you people doubted me. What this means is that, if the assumptions are correct, COVID-19 is slightly more deadly to an individual than the seasonal flu that varies in IFR from 0.7 to 1.3%.

This article is from May. It is now July. The death toll is now over 130,000. That's just the DEATH toll. The other toll, which no one seems to have a statistic, are those that survive but have long term health effects.

You are not understanding this completely. What they are saying is that those who are not in high-risk groups, are predicted to have lower morbidity and mortality, as compared to the numbers originally theorized.
But COVID-19 is highly contagious, more so than standard Influenza, and if you ARE in a high-risk group, you not only will get it, you will likely die.
So to prevent the spread to those high-risk groups, masking and containment are the recommendations, which is exactly what we are doing.
This is about protecting our senior citizens, obese people, etc. This is about protecting your fellow Americans. It always was.

Are you referring to senior citizens, obese, etc as the high the risk groups? Because if you are it is actually not likely they will die if infected with covid. The confirmed case fatality rate for those over 85 with covid is hovering around 30%. Or maybe you're referring to those over 85, with cancer, diabetes, and heart disease? Then yes it seems that it would be likely they would die if they got the covid. Just like they would likely die if they somehow got out of bed.

You don't understand statistics or probabilities. I really have no idea why you comment on it at all when you are completely lost and just make a fool of yourself. Just stay in the basement, don't eat the toilet paper, and don't drink the hand sanitizer.

Perhaps we should just send everyone over 70, and those with diabetes, heart conditions, and obesity, to special facilities where they can be gently euthanized and turned into an orange food paste to be distributed to the sheeple in convenient squeeze tubes. Especially the obese ones.

You were way out ahead of the CDC? And you were right? Wow! That's amazing!! We don't need experts with multiple academic credentials in their field, we need more bots crawling the internets looking for posts like yours!

The experts panicked, their predictions have been all over the place, they crashed the economy, and they made protecting who they considered more valuable their top priority instead of protecting the more vulnerable. I think we've been putting a little too much trust in these so-called experts. It doesn't really seem like they were experts at all. It looks more like they had no clue what they were doing.

The good news is we have cured cancer, pneumonia and heart disease.
If there is any way to pin the Chicago murders every weekend in covid I’m sure we can solve the rampant killing problem mayor lightfoot has.
