Or not really all that shocking ... considering most of us who have actually been paying attention to the science have known this for about 3 months now, while the people listening to journalists and politicians are still ... literally ... worrying about the extinction of the human race.
And while more than 2.4 million cases have been diagnosed nationwide since the pandemic started, the number of people who have been infected is likely to be 10 times as high. Antibody tests show more than 20 million people have been infected with coronavirus, most of them without knowing it, said Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
^^^ Studies done in March in both New York and LA demonstrated the same results. And some of the videos that brought that information to the forefront were banned.
But then because Robert Redfield is a politician...
That means 90% or more have not been infected and are susceptible to the virus, highlighting the need to act aggressively to combat rising infection rates, he said.
But somehow followed immediately by ....
Some cases went unnoticed partly because testing was at first limited to people who were very ill, Redfield said. As more people get tested, he added, it's clear a large percentage had mild symptoms or none at all.
Are there people reading this right now who think this highlights "the need to act aggressively to combat rising infection rates" and that it's a logical and scientific conclusion and not a political one? If so, speak up. Because I want to know who I can pre ignore. I've decided to adopt the leftist "Not worth talking to these people" approach to politics.

Well, now you are going to get it. The scared little Karens are going to tell you what a horrible person you are for pointing out that A) government was wrong, B) science was wrong and C) COVID-19 may not be super dangerous. I'm sticking by the predictions (not mine) that the infection mortality rate will be less than 0.20%.

Imagine the shocked looks on the faces of Qrank and KStU when they are expiring in an ICU from Covid-19...

I keep getting told in UK that I'm some form of inhuman monster for wondering why we just trashed the economy over something that is only 1.5 or 2 x a normal bad 'flu year.... I also ask where's the cutoff between the 30k UK deaths from 'flu a couple of Winters ago (economy not shut dow. Nothing in the media) and the projected 100k from Covid19 (economy shut down. Rolling hysteria) .... is it 35k? 50k? How will we decide?

Perhaps this will help you decide: Unlike the flu, covid19 is quite deadly to certain age and health groups. It could be argued that due to its extreme communicability, allowing it to spread uncontained in the rest of society, it is tantamount to a death sentence for our elderly, immune compromised, those with respiratory issues, etc. And hence refusal by various segments of the younger, healthier population results in something approaching involuntary manslaughter, especially when they know better. We do have the ability to lessen and even prevent this scourge from killing more. The question is, are we human enough to exercise that ability?

Infections may have been 10 times as high as what's known, due to asymptomatic carriers?
2.4 mil known X 10 = 24 million.
If 2.4 mil gave us 120 000 deaths, corrected to 24 mil infections that gave us 120K.
Hmmm, 340 mil people/24 = 14.167.
14.167 x 120K = 1.7 mil deaths.
Yeah, let's open up!

Or have you tried doing the back of the envelope calculation on the death rate of 120k deaths out of a pool of 24 million?
0.5% About double a bad flu season.
But even more disconcerting ... the "10 to 1" ratio of antibody vs actual positive tests ... is extrapolated from the number of people who have tested positive for the antibodies.
How many people have taken the antibody test?
Are you also factoring into your model the number of deaths related to the shutdowns? Guys like George Floyd?

For the "You'll be sorry when you're in an ICU!!" crowd.
It's a very real possibility I could die to this virus. I'm going to be 50 this year. The last 8 years have not been kind to me. I've put on some weight in my 40s as I dealt with the stress of managing the family business. So as my wife tells me ... I'm a bit tubby these days. Add insult to injury, I moved to California to avoid my father's fate ... dying in a very covid way to an unknown lung condition the doctors speculated may be genetic. I got pneumonia twice in the winter of 2018/19.
Plus ... I'm a daily pot smoker. I ain't slowin that shit down. If I'm going to die to the Rona, I ain't going out sober. What a bummer that would be.
You guys finding out I'm dead in the next few months is a legitimate possibility.
The shutdowns are still a form of suicide that this country will be struggling to recover from for years. My death won't change that one iota. These shutdowns were bad policy and a tremendous mistake that have done far more damage than the coronavirus. We havent begun to see the long term ramifications of this economic sabotage.
Facts are facts whether I am dead or alive.

Where's the point where these shutdowns have done enough damage? I wouldn't have such a problem with it if I didn't run into so many people who are putting their propaganda thumb so far on the "covid 19 could wipe out the human race" side of the scale I literally want to punch them in the face. Like CNN. I want to punch CNN and their "apocalyptic" headlines right in the *****. Queshank

Why do you think he's "being protected" when it seems like half the people in the White House have tested positive, going by news reports in the past month or so? Queshank

Why are they doing ANY testing in the WH?
Hasn't Fearless Leader told them not to test any more?
He's immortal, you know.
