My sense is these same people saying see, just as "we said it would go"(not you greg, you've been spot on)....we could have avoided all this if we just promised not to take ukraine into nato (and maybe added we'd get rid of the drug dealers and nazis)
would be the people on may 7, 1945 after those negotiations and surrender would be saying see, joe kennedy was right, we should have just given hitler what he wanted and think of all the lives that would have been saved...the negotiation worked

Not everything is WW2. Other stuff did happen in the 20th Century that is more analogous. You don't even have to limit yourself to the 20th Century either.
For the love of all that is holy find another analogy, because WW2 doesn't always apply.

Putin’s invasion has nothing to do with past or current conflicts in Ukraine as you continue to allude. Only an idiot would think that

Has nothing to do with the Russian invasion and occupation of Crimea or the ongoing war with Russian-backed separatist in Donbas. Riiiiiiiiiiiight.

Yea Accept the Russian proposal, which is very tough, but preserve Ukraine’s sovereignty and stop the war. or Reject the proposal and risk a serious escalation in the Russian attack that could end in a catastrophe for Zelensky and for Ukraine. what would you choose

I think it's best to just ignore Wads at this point. He is incapable of understanding what's happening and is distracting from real discussion.

Right. Obviously the first option. As I have been saying literally the entire time.

Russia wants to control Ukraine. This doesn't mean that this renewed invasion has nothing to do with past or current conflicts, which was your claim. You certainly can't just ignore that the invasion of Ukraine began in 2014 with Crimea, which Russia has occupied since that time.

What more does Ukraine want than is in the proposal? I can see how they might want some reparations. Toss some in to sweeten the deal and wrap the thing up.

You certainly can't just ignore that the invasion of Ukraine began in 2014 with Crimea, which Russia has occupied since that time. Russia aggressively took over Crimea. Now they are aggressively trying to take over the entirety of Ukraine. The Ukrainian people oppose. They are not welcoming them with open arms. They posed no threat to Russia. So your excuses for Russia makes no sense

You already pointed out, yourself, that the other option is likely "catastrophe".
Would you choose catastrophe or trusting Putin and living and having a country?

What has been shown is how Russia perceives U.S. and NATO actions in Eastern Europe which they view as a security threat. Whether you think those concerns are valid or not is not the point; the point is that what's happening isn't because Putin is crazy, or Hitler, or whatever other narrative people are offering up to ignore that he is a "rational" actor responding to perceived threats and thus there are actions and points of negotiation that can be taken to end this conflict.
