I was at my weekly COVID update yesterday, where we have doctors and epidemiologists providing the latest info, and learned that children are at very low risk of infection, though not sure about them as vectors. There is an H2 receptor on epithelial cells of the respiratory tract, beginning in the nasal cavity, that is not expressed (or expressed to a much lesser degree) in children prior to teen years. COVID hijacks this receptor (normally for Histamine binding) to infect.
I had already intended to let my kids go back to school, this just reinforces that decision.

NY and NJ were locked own tighter than clam's asses all while the red states were criticized for not doing the same. Now here we are with both NY and NJ backtracking on things. So how effective was the lockdown? Then we have the rubes quoting the rising cases. Think maybe that's because there's more testing? Are deaths rising significantly enough that we should start over? The answer is obvious. Yes(sarcasm)...but only when we get closer to the election.  |
