Because it's fucking retarded. There are many many similarities. And that’s why so many military experts and historians are making the analogies But talk to them. Maybe you can convince them they are retarded and what Russia is doing much more closely resembles the Viking wars. No, there aren't many similarities. What Russia is doing resembles what it did in Georgia just in a much larger country.

Now we're getting somewhere.
UA's fierce resistance may pay dividends. Had Zelenskyy capitulated immediately, he'd have lost the country. Had the Russian armed forces been more integrated, he'd have lost the country. Negotiate now before more territory is taken...

Holy shit. Et tu Mojo? You too are so easily manipulated by media that you're just going to jump on and try to save face with adopting this narrative?
Layers of paint. Layers of paint.
On the very first day of invasion, Russia demanded the following in return for surrender:
I watched it live on NBC News.
Since then, the Russians keep escalating the demands as they're quite aware they have Ukraine over a barrel.
1- Ukraine amend constitution to remove "Join NATO" language 2- Surrender crimea 3- Recognize Eastern Ukrainian independence
And then they added a 4th in the last round.
4- Agree to a Russian appointed PM with Zelenskyy remaining as president.
The dividends UA's "fierce resistance" will make is ... a return to Russia's only demands? This is what so many Ukrainian lives are being lost for? Can't have that. Must construct a new narrative to turn this into a victory!!!
This shit works on petep. It shouldn't work on you.

The pathetic part is you falling for it. You actually pull and parse Putin’s words and you believe him at face value
As he is bombing civilian targets and is next to the polish border. Have you looked at a map to see where Poland is?
Why do you ignore the smattering of other demands and excuses for invading.

Just a quick reminder that there's more to history than WW2.

Been simpler to just say they should have surrendered. Then Russia would have been satisfied.

You do know that's what happens in a war right? One side either surrenders while the other side gets what they want. Or they fight to a draw and neither side gets what they want.
Russia is going to get what they want.
But the "experts" are building a narrative that Russia isn't getting what they want because Russia wants all of Ukraine. And you seem to be playing into that narrative.
But ... you're welcome to join the "6 years to the day" thread to argue otherwise .... Russia has never said they want all of Ukraine.

Good luck getting a nation-state's representatives to sell that to their people. We'd agree to universal healthcare and cradle to grave benifits LONG before we'd agree to surrender without a fight.

My take on all this is that Putin will never be satisfied until he takes ALL of Ukraine up to its borders with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova.
LNF Russobots of course will disagree.

That's the trick Mojo.
Russia is doing a "special operation" not a war. Just like their invasion of Georgia was a "peace keeping operation." With a "ceasefire" that just happened to meet all of Russia's terms and a couple extra thrown in for good measure and Russia throwing a bone by agreeing to back off one of the others.
And when Ukraine gives Russia everything they want, it won't be labeled a "surrender." It will be a "ceasefire" too.

Pretty much what Que-Anon has degenerated into. Imagine spending seventeen hours a day, every day, for six years of your life researching consuming media and still managing to fuck up your analysis.

Sounds like a "yes". Or, worst case, if that was pushed as a negotiating point, he could immediately confirm the US would go along with it, which I imagine they would if it meant ending the war.
This is kind of an area that makes sense for US involvement. Mediating, or helping Ukraine meet the negotiating goals of both Ukraine and Russia.
This was a pretty good answer that she gave to not commit to anything specific, or look to be giving Zelenskyy control over anything the US does, but pointing out that at any moment he could be in contact with the US to line up that sort of cooperation.

Ukraine and Russia signal progress in talksImportant point from the article: "Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, said that 'absolutely specific wordings' were 'close to being agreed' in negotiations with Ukraine, including security guarantees for Moscow and neutrality for Kyiv. The Kremlin said options for Ukraine modelled on Austria and Sweden were under discussion."
