Yeah, you gotta give Lomelissa a lot of leeway. He's a bit slow.
Nah, he knows he is full of it. His ego caused him to overestimate his abilities. Dunning-Krueger in action.
A lot of Trump humpers have that problem.

Except I am talking about here in the US, guy. Donald Trump to the Left of the Dems? If that's what you want to believe. Smart people recognize him for who and what he is, and have for years. As a Bullshitter and obvious Con man, ideology doesn't matter to Trump. Only what is useful to his own ends, be it Left, or Right. Read: www2.csudh.edu/ccauthen/576f12/frankfurt__harry_-_on_bullshit.pdf
I'm sure you thought you were making a profound statement with this post. But I'll be damned if I can figure out what it is. I'm not going to go back through 5 years of information and try to condense it for you in a single post. Especially not if you're just going to keep challenging me by simply confirming my point. I literally just said we're talking about the context of the US here.
I think you accidentally typed "smart people" when you meant to type "Chinese peasants."
Queshank
Shorter version: Hur dur dur. You agree with me because I think I are smart. Read the book I linked. Your opinion of your abilities will be burst.

The same shit I've been saying since day one. Protect the vulnerable.
I sent a text to my older sister ... a Type 1 diabetic ... on March 31st telling her to be careful, this diseases is ravaging people with diabetes.
March 31st Mojo.
Maybe you need to re read my posts. Like all of them, since the start of this. Even the post you just responded to.
We are wearing masks.
It's not saving us.
Because it's a placebo.
We are telling obese and elderly people that we are making society safe for them by shutting down an entire economy and forcing people to stay at home.
That is the reason for the mortalities. That is the reason 50% of the deaths in this country are *still* nursing home related. Was it 2 or 3 months ago you and I had this exact same conversation about nursing homes? You think nursing homes aren't mandating mask wearing?
I'm not all over the place at all. The pushes on this have been wrong from the beginning. I'm not saying it because I'm an expert. I'm simply repeating the words of expert after expert. While the Chinese peasantry repeat the words of official after official and journalist after journalist.
And the Chinese peasantry messaging is dominating the airwaves. It's getting people killed.
Queshank
Haven't you noticed yet they never compare mask wearing to someone just ... covering their fucking mouth when they cough?
I learned to do that when I was 3. Must be a Midwestern thing.
There was one CNN anchor who took a stab at it. She formed her hand into a tube and coughed through it. Science!

Do you realize that you didn't answer the question? Except that I did. But, OK. Except that you didn't. It was a general question about something you had said before. I asked if you were suggesting something. Your answer did not address my question.

Are you suggesting the left unquestioningly obeys authority and the right does not? History would indicate the opposite. The "Right" famously "falls in line" FFS the military is nearly all right leaning professional unquestioning authority obeyers .. Correct. History would indicate that but apparently the left has now become nothing but a bunch of unthinking boot lickers and even more dangerous to society in general.

I wasn't talking about your question, or really TO you at all. What I have informed you about, as a courtesy, is your over-estimation of your abilities. This is rather typical of people with stunted growth, and Libertarians in particular. It's why most people stop being Libertarians the same time their pimples disappear. If you need attention, seek it elsewhere.

This just in...mediate lowballed the number.
An overwhelming majority of Americans say they've worn a face mask in public in the last week, as the coronavirus pandemic persists and infections reach new highs in more than a dozen states, a new ABC News/Ipsos poll finds.
Nearly nine in 10 Americans (89%) who left their home in the last week said they wore a face mask or a face covering, compared to only 11% who said they did not.
****
Despite the huge number of people using masks, the country's approach to mask-wearing is largely voluntary.
Mask wearing has been increasing at the same time the case count is increasing. Magic?
Queshank
Magic?
Nope.
Thanks to Trump, the US is behind other nations in testing. So as the US has finally ramped up testing it's natural that the number of official cases increases. This doesn't mean masks are not working, it means that asymptomatic cases are now more detected than before.

What a stupid question. It's clear from the video - if you even bothered to watch it - that simply covering one mouth (with a hand? elbow?) would never be as effective as suppressing transmission of infectious droplets as a properly fitted mask, because, you dummy, the droplets would just go AROUND THE HAND OR ELBOW, just like the examples of ill fitted face masks.
Furthermore, are you seriously proposing that people go around with their noses and mouths covered by their hands, or nestled into their elbows? Because Covid-19 can be spread just from breathing and talking.
Here's another video (pre covid19) that compares sneezing into hands vs. elbows vs. handkerchiefs. Guess what? The winner is the elbow, because the hand stays relatively uncontaminated. But that still leaves the problem of how you are going to go walking around with your mug shoved into your elbow whenever you want to breathe or speak. I will refrain from speculating that such an action might actually be a visual improvement.
Duh.
Do you take extra strength hallucinogens?

Apologies Que. I reread your posts and stand corrected. The misinterpretation of what you posted was on me. Truth be told, I was skimming for disagreement and jumped too quickly...
I deliberately set it up that way to spark confrontation Mojo. And as a vehicle for blowing off steam and letting off some of my own personal outrage. I know it doesn't work for convincing leftists of the Chinese peasant variety. But at the very least, it gets information to right wingers who enjoy my "taking the left to task" approach.
Look at this shit Mojo. This is another one that I was so angry about I had to calm down for awhile to come here and post it. I'm so angry about this shit I'm seriously considering getting involved in local politics as a Republican here in my new home in California. Even 10 years ago if you'd have told me I'd move to California to get involved in Republican politics I'd have told you you were a fucking loon.
Did you read the article from Yahoo News UK I shared above about Boris Johnson? About how the best thing the citizens of the UK can do to survive the Wuhan Flu is to lose some fucking weight? About that being the reason for the UK government's push? To protect its citizens? It was a Yahoo News article. They're more likely to post stories about celebrities wearing string bikinis than actual news. And at least 10% of those stories have to involve a morbidly obese woman who is so brave for posting pictures of herself in a string bikini on instragram. Because woke.
Here is how CNN, an actual news outlet, repackaged Boris Johnson's statements for the United States audience. And I'm actually starting to shake in anger as I type this. The author, Luke McGee, is a "senior producer." He handles reporting on European news for CNN. He made it to senior producer writing reports like this.
Boris Johnson, the UK Prime Minister, has said in a video posted to his official Twitter account that he was "way overweight" when he was admitted to intensive care earlier this year after becoming infected with Covid-19.
"I've always wanted to lose weight for ages and ages," he said in the clip posted Monday. "I think many people, I struggle with my weight."
Johnson says in the video that since recovering from the virus, he starts each day by going for a run with his dog, Dilyn, and talks effusively about the personal benefits of losing weight as well as the societal benefits of protecting the UK's National Health Service (NHS).
They have one blurb in the middle about the link between coronavirus and obesity:
The government policy paper, released Monday, makes a point of linking the risk of being overweight during the current pandemic. "In the last few months we have seen that being overweight or living with obesity puts you at risk of dying from Covid-19," singling out the impact that "excess fat tissue has on vital organs like the heart, lungs and liver."
That's it. That's the whole discussion about one of the primary comorbidities associated with death and covid, buried in the middle of this article about Boris Johnson being a fatty. And it wouldn't be so bad if this wasn't the first article on CNN I've seen mentioning it ... at all! (I look every day..specifically for this type of stuff. If I missed one, lemme know.)
And to go one further, it spends more time at the end on pointing out how Boris is a hypocrite.
However, Johnson himself has in the past opposed attempts by previous governments to take similar action.
In 2007, Johnson wrote in a newspaper column that the incumbent Labour government's proposal to put calories on bottles of wine was "loony" and that the "nannying and bullying" plan could lead to a legal challenge. In 2004, when the same Labour government was planning a smoking ban, Johnson wrote: "It's the dogooders I can't stand, and this Labour Government is riddled with people who long to stop other people doing things of which they disapprove."
I give you ... American journalism.
This isn't new information. That's what is driving me crazy. None of this is new. We knew all of this in March. We knew *most* of what we know before we had our first outbreak here in the US.
Elderly is comorbidity #1. Obesity is comorbidity #2.
Every single article about a guy who "denied it' or "called it a hoax" and then winds up apologizing and saying "OMG this sucks, it's so real and it sucks so bad" or dying ... shows pictures of these tubs of goo and nobody is supposed to say anything about them being tubs of goo.
These are facts that were percolating to the top for anybody paying attention to more than just leftist news outlets like CNN, the WaPo, the NY Times, NPR and MSNBC. But if you only paid attention to those leftist rags, you probably are wondering what it is I'm constantly going on about. If all a person pays attention to is those piece of shit leftist rags, this thread makes zero sense and after telling me how stupid I am, it's time to get back to lecturing people on facebook about wearing masks and having empathy for the vulnerable.
I sure wish our nation would start showing some empathy for the vulnerable people and 1 - protecting them, and 2- at least telling them they're vulnerable. We still haven't started. But by all means let's spend another 3,000 hours of weekly programming on fucking mask wearing.
Do you think I'm full of shit to suggest it's because nobody wants to fat shame? After a full on decade of anti fat shaming rhetoric by these self same leftist rags? Or does it have more to do with assigning blame to Trump and making sure he loses this year's election? Because that's one of the dangers of TDS infecting our journalists I've been going on about for about 5 years too.
The only thing worse than being a Chinese peasant right now, at this moment in America, is being a fat Chinese peasant. Because you're probably going to die.

Is this a good rational for the government not telling people that the primary danger to them contracting this disease is obesity?
This seems like the thinking of a Chinese peasant, rationalizing why their government has their best interests in mind as they die smiling by the thousands.

Good post. Wish I could write and rail like this, lol. But sadly, my wordsmithing is limited to one and two sentence responses. It still amazes me how collectively wrong our response has been. Throw in the politics and we're fighting along the usual front, which leaves the old and "unhealthy" (ie: fat) out to dry. :/
