I believe the point is there are MORE jobs available if people want them. That's good. Greg Before or after the revised jobs report? What kind of jobs (at one point, it was part-time jobs when you dug into the numbers)? What is the pay?
So again, this doesn't address the original point, which was:
From an electoral standpoint, particularly with a populist candidate on the ballot, the question is: who's feeling that growth?
And I gave an answer. *I* am feeling that growth. *I* am benefitting from the current state of the economy. As I've already said. There will not ALWAYS be people living from paycheck to paycheck. There will ALWAYS be people with high credit card debt. What you're NOT seeing are large increases in home foreclosures or bankruptcies. Also, if you review the article, you'll find those major downward revisions came from a Boeing strike and effects of the hurricane. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been so low. Greg

And as I've pointed out, both of those numbers are growing, not declining. Nationwide there has been a decrease in foreclosures; however, there's been an increase in individual states like California and Nevada. And that nationwide number might be changing soon:
"According to the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), the second-quarter 2024 delinquency rate for mortgages on one- to four-unit residential properties increased to 3.97% on a seasonally adjusted basis. Meanwhile, the July foreclosure report from Attom sends similar signals of rising distress. The company’s data shows that foreclosure filings of all types were up 15% month over month, although they were only 0.2% higher relative to July 2023. This pipeline of data suggests that more U.S. homeowners are struggling to stay in their homes, and market conditions theoretically put the most heat on those who bought after mortgage rates rose." ( Source) These aren't first revisions of the jobs reports.

You wanted THIS addressed: I addressed it. Greg No, you didn't.
What you're doing is trying to avoid the fact that there is a growing segment of the population that is discontented/distressed, because they're not feeling this growth everyone keeps talking about. And that's a problem. Someone - like Trump (or in the future, someone much, much worse) - can take advantage of that. Just look at Trump's gains among Black voters, particularly men; he's doing better than any previous Republican candidate.
This isn't a complicated point.

Ah, NOW I see what you're getting at. Which brings me BACK to my point. Again, there are always and always will be segments of society that feel dissatisfied by whatever the current job market is. I know, I was one. I used to be a steel worker back in the 70's. I got laid off. Best thing that ever happened to me. I was dissatisfied with the job market back then. Not so much now. I'd say a great many people today are dissatisfied with the job market us because they have to pack up and move to where the new jobs are. Like I did, like my father did and my grandfather did. The government does not owe anyone a job. They DO owe citizens the environment to which they may earn a living. As a reminder, Trump promised to keep the coal industry going. How'd that work out? So, if you're in Michigan and the auto plant just closed down, you're going to have to move to a state where a new chips plant is going up. That's how it works. Hopefully I've made myself clearer. Greg

Who is not feeling that growth? Probably the people who are living paycheck to paycheck, having to take on part time jobs, etc.?
Or do they not exist?
LOL, I lived from paycheck to paycheck under four presidents. Some republican and some democratic. Funny, I never blamed the president for my financial problems. I had a new mortgage, two new babies, me and my spouse worked everyday to make ends meet. We didn’t go on expensive vacations, bought food and clothing we could afford and rarely ate out. Why is it that people expect the government to help them with their financial woes now. What is wrong with these people. Now and in the last 15 years or so, I am doing financially great. No children to raise, no debt, money saved. If you don’t want to live from paycheck to paycheck, get off your ass and do something the make it better. There is nothing wrong with having to get a part time job to make ends meet

Well, I'll tell you what's also growing year by year. The number of Amazon warehouses hiring new workers. Do what ya gotta do. Greg
