Well, I'll tell you what's also growing year by year. The number of Amazon warehouses hiring new workers. Do what ya gotta do. Greg Which is paying what?
Guess what is also growing, the number of people saying they're struggling to pay their bills:
"Even though the economy is expanding and wages are growing, millions more Americans say they are struggling to keep current with their bills. The number of consumers who said it was 'very difficult' for them to pay their household bills during the last week has jumped from 26.9 million in October 2021, when the pandemic was in full swing, to 43.2 million in October 2023, the most recent data available from the U.S. Census Bureau." ( Source)
Again, you're missing the point, which is that this growing number of people are prone to accepting a populist message like what Trump is offering. And they're not going to care if you call him fascist or racist or anything else.
But continuing ignoring that if you want.

I am not missing the point. You said people are complaining about living from paycheck to paycheck. If that is not your point, then what is You are missing the point, which is about the appeal of a populist economic message, such as that offered by Trump.

Well, let's see now. You get laid off from a job paying $50 an hour, your unemployment is running out so you can take a job paying $20 an hour or do nothing. Gotta think about that one. Greg

Reason being because when right wingers see a jobs report they don't like, they start off with: A. But what about the employment rate! B. But what about the Labor Force Participation Rate! C. But what about the U6! You've jumped to option C already. Greg

That dissatisfaction and being unable to support oneself makes a populist economic message more appealing. That portion of the population is growing. Which is the point that for whatever reason you stubbornly refuse to acknowledge.

I'd say this. If I were laid off from my job, I'd be motivated to find another one and be damn thankful I could. That's my point. Greg

You should look at the U6 rate.
The U6 rate has always been an issue. But republicans only complain about it when a democrat is president. Look at the U6 rate under GWB and Trump

Learned that in microeconomics a long, long time ago. Same class I learned about conspicuous consumption and Thorstein Veblen (prof was a big Veblen fan).
If you don't want to use U6, then use U4 or U5, which are better measures than U3, because U3 doesn't look at "discouraged workers." ( Source)

You reckon a guy that's just got a layoff notice cares about the U6? Greg

I'm not telling you to not look at it. I'm saying it's going back up, i.e., it's a growing segment of the population to whom a populist appeal can be made.
And this is who those people are:
"Marginally attached workers are persons who currently are neither working nor looking for work, but indicate that they want and are available for a job and have looked for work sometime in the recent past. Discouraged workers, a subset of the marginally attached, have given a job-market related reason for not looking currently for a job. Persons employed part time for economic reasons are those who want and are available for full-time work but have had to settle for a part-time schedule." ( Source)
The same situation in 2008 (which was worse) helped Obama.

You reckon a guy that's just got a layoff notice cares about the U6? Greg Well, depending on his situation, he's probably in the U6 measure, not the U3.

My son was laid off in 2014. He found another job immediately making less money and working much harder. So he got a weekend job to make ends meet. But in the meantime, he was looking for a job in his field. Found a better job in his field making more money and better benefits than the job he was laid off from. Shit happens. A bs populist message is not going to make you get off your ass and do something for yourself. With a low unemployment rate, it is no excuse. Telling me what I want to hear is a stupid reason to vote for someone

Told coal miners they're jobs were coming back. Not. Greg
