Hahahahahahahahahahahaha Oh that's good. "Smart people surround themselves with other smart people" hahahah. Ooof. Good one thor.

While I understood when I posted that that thor would never understand what I'm saying, it occurs to me that there's others ... like TL ... that won't either.
So let me expand on that. A little insider knowledge for you guys. Smart people know there's not many of them out there. So they work with what they've got. And they call the people who agree with them "smart." Because they know everyone else is too dumb to tell the difference too.
85%ers people. 85%ers.

Pompeo and Haley are out. ( Source) Cotton has reportedly removed his name from consideration as SecDef. ( Source) All good news.
Seeing some reports that Richard Grenell being considered for State ( Source); he was acting DNI and ambassador to Germany in previous admin.
Grenell is also gay, so I guess when the purges come, he'll be among the first to go like Rohm. /sarcasm

I gotta admit. I like the Mike Waltz pick as National Security advisor.
His realizations awhile ago that China was the real threat to global stability dovetail with my own. I'll remind the boards I was at the WTO protests in 1999 during the Battle of Seattle when Clinton completed phase 2 of selling out the proletariat. I appreciate his military credentials. A Green Beret with 4 bronze stars? (Psst Greg55_99 ... none of them were just given to him for having really good penmanship like your Dem heroes.) He understands what it means to send soldiers into war. I fucking hate his "we're gonna be there forever" to win the hearts and minds of Iraq and Afghanistan shit. But that ship has sailed so /meh.
But I really like his op ed on Ukraine last year.
This specifically:
The Biden administration has neither explained the American objective in Ukraine nor his strategy to achieve it. Will American military spending continue until Ukraine has pushed Russia back to its prewar boundaries? Its pre-2014 boundaries? Or until the Putin regime collapse? We don’t know because Biden refuses to tell us. "As long as it takes" is a slogan, not a strategy.
Successive administrations failed to offer clear benchmarks for what a victory in Iraq or Afghanistan looked like. Nobody in this administration is even trying regarding Ukraine.
^^ If you don't agree with that, you ain't no liberal. But then again if you're all gung ho on "grinding down Russia's military" like is used as the primary justification for grinding down Ukraine's population, you're a neocon anyway so it's a moot point.

I do not like Walz, and here's why:
And he's expected to appoint Rubio to State. ( CNN)
These are not restrainers.

Like I said, not digging Waltz's rhetoric on Iraq and Afghanistan. But tbh I'm fine with the Mexico stuff. You'll recall I am the one who suggested ... unfacetiously ... making Mexico the 51st state on the flag. If they're really struggling so much and it's really our fault the way the left insists ... well let's fix it.
As I remind people periodically ... I'm not anti war. I'm anti stupid war. And stupid wars are all our government gets involved in.
Also vis a vis Rubio ... already read the CNN article. This jumped out:
Until an offer is formally made, another source advised, Trump could change his mind.
Fingers crossed. But it's clear he's being picked because of his stance on China. And we definitely needed a shift in our stance towards China about 25 years ago BEFORE we funded their military, their space program and their aircraft carriers in exchange for fat ROI's for wealthy Democratic donors.

Quoting Kinzinger from your link:
“You know, Marco Rubio has been obviously kind of changing. I think he even voted against Ukraine aid, which was very surprising, when I learned that,” Kinzinger said during his Monday evening appearance on CNN’s The Source.”
“But he’s not a, you know, by no means is he like a neocon, so obviously that was important for Donald Trump, but he’s somebody that understands foreign policy. And that’s going to be important,” he told host Kaitlan Collins.

So if trump does get reelected and does the same thing to Democrats you'll be OK with that too? I do not believe the DOJ have been weaponized. Trump has been afforded way more latitude than anyone else in the same situation. Trump not only took secret documents; but showed them to people without clearance and admitted, on tape, he knew they had not been declassified. Are you really OK that he did this? I’m certain we won’t need to find out as I am 99% certain he is going to lose in ‘24. Presidents are not immune and neither are citizen candidates. So much for that 99 percent.

Going to war in Mexico would be a stupid war. It'd be like Afghanistan, but on our own border. Hopefully, he changes his mind. Frankly would rather have Grenell than Rubio.
Rubio is chameleon concerned with his political survival. I have a long memory and don't forget that he was part of McCain's crew. As long as we're in the ME, we're never making that supposed pivot to Asia.

TBH ... it's why he's topping the list of picks. He'll be exactly what Donald wants. Someone who doesn't undermine and fight with every decision he makes like matthis and tillerson did.

.... contrary to the popular image of the president as a commander in chief who delegated the direction of the war to his field commanders, Roosevelt was actually much more deeply involved in the day-to-day operation of the war than previously thought. Roosevelt set wartime strategy from the White House, a hands-on approach born out of what he saw during World War I.
“Deference to the military by political leaders in World War I had permitted the senseless battles of attrition on the Western Front,“ Hamilton writes. “For this reason the president was unwilling to delegate something as important as world war to ‘professionals.’”

Little Marco, another one of Trumpy's bold anti-establishment picks, working on his third anti-establishment Senate term. Little's hallmark is a steady consistency, "Donald Trump is a con artist." Trumpy is also "the most vulgar person to ever aspire to the presidency."(2016). Since then Little's gone 180 degrees from reality.

You had me rolling on this post. I doubt they'll pick up on your "subtlety" though.
