Let's hope Trump gets defeated this year.
I'm ready to man the barricades.
Thought you had a glass jaw? Props if you remember this:

That ship has sailed. Trump is the GOP nominee. Can't blame it completely on the left or media, but when every Republican is Hitler and going to be the end of the world... that certainly did not help. Ultimately though, I blame Republicans and connected people who once again divided the party. We had one real shot, and that was DeSantis. Instead, we did exactly what we did in 2016, we fractured the party into a bunch of various Not Trump factions instead of consolidating around the best alternative. I thought we had a real shot at getting him some momentum before Iowa, but those idiots at Americans for Prosperity and the Koch Network decided to at the last minute back Nikki to barely keep her alive and competing. Not enough to ever have a shot at Trump, but certainly enough to sink DeSantis. They might as well have joined Trump and outright supported him directly for as good as that did. It is similar to 2016 when Rubio and Kasich were both too prideful or naive or whatever the reason to drop out, nope, they had to spite Ted Cruz, who was the clear leading alternative to Trump and he did have a much more clear path to a victory if those two clowns did not keep dividing the vote to give Trump a plurality to win. There's not a lot to disagree with there. As you say, the ship has sailed. And when given the chance, Trump proved he wasn't up to the challenge. And we got Biden as a result. The election in my State is unlikely to be close. Recent polling shows one of the two main party candidates with a commanding lead over the other (it doesn't matter which one and I guard my privacy too much to say). If that doesn't change, I'll for sure vote for someone other than those two. As long as my options are the following, my choice (C) is easy: A. Increasing the mandate of the guaranteed winner of my State that I don't support. B. Vote for a guaranteed loser of my State that I don't support. C. Vote for a guaranteed loser of my State that I do support. A buddy of mine in a non-swing state votes C for your stated reasons as well.

The thing is, being a good at picking people and managing an organization through them was supposedly his huge strength. And it was his biggest failure as president. The chaos under which he ran the executive branch is a significant contributor to his loss. Arguably the most significant. So why is he getting the nomination? Why even hope that he'll get it right this time when he blew it last time? Let's recap ..
Comments about Trump from the "I only hire the best people" hand picks ..
Reince Priebus - "He's an idiot"
HR McMaster - "He's a dope"
Steven Mnuchin - "He's an idiot"
Gary Cohn - "He's dumb as shit"
John Kelly - "He's unhinged and an idiot"
James Mathis "He's a fifth grader"
Bill Barr - "Shockingly detached from reality"
Roger Stone - "America's greatest mistake"
Steve Bannon - "an 11 year old child"
Rex Tillis - "a fucking moron"
Queshank - “He's just this guy, ya know?”
ROFL
I missed this the first time around.
Well played. And also not too far off.
He *was* just a guy. A carnival barking dipshit. Before you all turned him into the most powerful man in the world. And before you disagree with that just to be ... contrarian ... he was president, has a good chance at being president, and is currently in a 1v2,000,000 fight with the United States government and appears to be winning.
But he coulda just been a guy that ... sailed on by.
Missed opportunities all because you lemmings chased the will o wisp into the swamp of ideological ruin.

Sure Q.. Trump never courted the white supremacist racist, misogynist, vengeful, often sociopathic element of the far-right.. except from the time he rode the down escalator.

It is not DeSantis doing any blaming here, it was me. You have offered nothing to counter what I said. Claiming he ran a pure shit campaign is just hyperbole talking points I expect from the average Trump sycophant.

I know it's you mouthing platitudes about how DeSantis was robbed of the nomination by those durn donors that refused to donate to him. But it demonstrates that you didn't pay attention to why the donors didn't donate to him. And they didn't donate to him because he ran a shit campaign and demonstrated over and over just how out of his league he was on the national stage.
DeSantis had *no* fucking chance in 2024. It's shocking that people can actually look at that guy and think he was going to be able to weather the campaign. Do you think somehow journalists and editors that vote Democrat were going to suddenly say "Oh it's DeSantis not Trump. Let's drop the MAGA terrorist/nazi/Hitler comparisons and report honestly on the campaign?" That's a form of naivety I found surprising in many DeSantis voters.
The reason DeSantis cruised to victory in 2022 and Republicans did so well in Florida is because abortion wasn't an issue in 2022. Florida had a 15 week abortion plan signed into law in that same year. The issue was defused. 15 weeks is not just reasonable, it's what nearly every other Western country in the world uses as their window for buyer's remorse vis a vis pregnancy. The very next year the dumb fucker signed another new bill restricting that window to 6 weeks ... within legitimate "i'm late" for women.
That was a blaring alarm signal to Koch et al that DeSantis was out of touch and would crush the party in 2024. DeSantis didn't just step on his dick and turn abortion into an issue in Florida now which might make Dems competitive there this year. He stepped on his dick and turned abortion into a *losing* issue for Republicans on the national stage if he was the standard bearer.
I can talk about how dumb DeSantis and his supporters are aaaaaalll day. Sorry I was late to get to this one. I'm a busy guy. But I'll have lots to add if you wanna keep up with the DeSantis sycophancy.

I've found this fascinating. You kept badgering me for a prediction. I gave you 3 predictions ... all contradictory. And iirc, all in the same thread.
Only one worked.
But it was a test of your critical thinking skills. Which you failed not at all to my surprise.
I said "Trump will be assassinated by Reince Priebus manipulated into sAvInG dEmOcRaCy!! by trying to restore his lost honor as the chair of the RNC when Trump initiated his takeover."
I said "DeSantis will wait til 2028 to throw his hat in the ring"
Both in "amazing karnak" style to troll you.
And then I gave you one real prediction. I said "At the moment I'd say Trump is a lock for the primary ... his closest competitor is a Trump impersonator with stunted social skills after all ... and after winning the primary he will be frozen out and ignored by media outlets and lose in 2024."
DeSantis is the Trump impersonator with stunted social skills as I argued then and repeatedly have argued since. How could he be Trump's closest competitor if he wasn't in the primaries? And how could Trump win the primaries if Reince Priebus (oddly specific that no?) assassinates him?
It's sad that you think I care about you understanding what I argue or think I think you have enough integrity to admit I was right about the many predictions (altho I styled them as warnings) I made in the 2016 campaign leading up to 2018 when I stopped giving a shit about who wins this shit throwing match because the losers are clear and it's always going to be the American people. Say it with me autreyu ... "This is what it's like ..."
The people who have integrity and that I respect on the boards know. And thats' enough for me.
But I do appreciate you giving me an assist the past few years in helping me troll the integrity free Fiddler ... the person I started trolling with the "I predict" threads. So thanks for that.
