We're bound to fuck over some allies but is it all that unecpected? Bonus points, Joe gets an easy out...Trump did it, not his fault. LOL It essentially looks like they're doing what Biden also wants to do, which is pull out most of the troops and leave special forces in the region.

Also of note, no mention of Syria in these draw down plans.

Dear Senator,
If you truly support ending this war, guess what, you have the power to do that. You can repeal the AUMF.
Sincerely,
Tired of y'all's BS

Biden and Obama had the option to end the Afghanistan fight during their eight years in office but didn't do so. I'll have to be convinced before I believe that Biden is as good as Trump on this troop draw down....or any other issue.
If the topic is policy rather than personality, Trump was and is a pretty good president. That's why I'll never understand the mindless hatred directed at him. I'm beginning to think that its root cause is that Trump got in the way of the elites' master plan and it pissed them off. "The Great Reset"...remember that title; this won't be the last time you hear it.

Biden and Obama had the option to end the Afghanistan fight during their eight years in office but didn't do so. I'll have to be convinced before I believe that Biden is as good as Trump on this troop draw down....or any other issue. Biden's position is essentially the policy that is currently being enacted by DOD. And when you look at policy rather than rhetoric, Trump hasn't been "good" on this. He's talked about ending endless wars while striking Assad, leaving troops in Syria (notice we aren't withdrawing those), putting troops into Somalia and ramping up the drone war, doing a surge in Afghanistan (which Biden didn't support under Obama), and assassinating generals of states we aren't at war with. Only now that he's about to be on his way out is he appointing people to implement any kind of withdrawal. Where was this 4 years ago? Instead he appointed neocons and other disciples of liberal hegemony. And regardless of Trump or Biden, these spineless, obsequious Congressmen - like Hawley - are worse. They have the power to end this stuff, but don't. They could repeal the 2001 AUMF and the 2002 AUMF; they could end funding for these missions (the power of the purse), etc. They don't. And Hawley is especially loathsome; talking about ending wars but voting against the Yemen War Powers Resolution.

SourceTwenty f'ing years to achieve "a modicum of success," which equates to a buttload of failure (which has been well documented in the IG reports).

Heh, was listening to a talking head on NPR this morning, an Australian-Afghan who seemed to know a lot of the history of the conflict and the players. Well informed and dead set against a "hasty" pull-out. It was the same tired argument that's been repeated since we invaded, "we'll lose all our gains and the Afghan people will suffer". I agree but if 20 years, a generation's worth, of occupation and "assistance" isn't moving the dial, the dial is stuck...on stupid.

So if you support ending our longest war, you're now alt-right? F*ck you McMaster.

SourceIf NATO members want to stay, then they can foot the bill. Not to mention the Afghan government has no incentive to conclude a peace if that means the exit of the only thing barely keeping it upright (foreign troops).

SourceThere's already a civil war! The region is already destabilized! AQ is apparently still a threat (while we've been arming them elsewhere)! All while we've been there for the last 20 years! And a special FU to Lindsey Graham.
