Tuberville wasn't stupid honest enough to let himself be manipulated into calling his own constituency racist.
I find this sentence to be much closer to the truth.
Voters erase racist wording in Alabama Constitution
Voters in 2020 authorized state officials and lawmakers to cut the racist language that lingers from the era of racial segregation. That work, finally completed, finally went back before voters this year.
Proponents say the changes will demonstrate Alabama is a different place today — and streamline the sprawling constitution to be more user-friendly.
Republican Tommy Tuberville 2020 Senate election with 60.10% of the Alabama vote.

And as always, to make your argument, you have to reference something that happened 500 years ago.
From a time when all of humanity no matter color or nation was doing the same.
Or maybe, again more accurately, I am commenting on America's 500+ years of racism.
But you have nothing to point to besides my "the supply of racism isn't meeting the artificially created demand" as a contrasting contemporary example.
You don't see a problem there?

I have centuries of evidence of America's persistently pernicious racism. From genocide, slavery and Jim Crow to redlining, the War on Drugs and Tuberville. I don't need to list it all every time I address the topic.

You have so much that you don't even need to prove your case. It's just a tenet of your faith.
And I am expected to take it on faith as well. Even as I see the opposite playing out in real time right in front of me.
I'm not supposed to believe my eyes and ears. I'm supposed to believe you.
Humanity's played this game before bama. No thanks. We've done a lot to move away from that in recent centuries. We don't need to go back.

How's life on the local reservations?

You have centuries of seeing humanity develop over the past 5 centuries.
Your insistence on only highlighting America's evolution is noted.
What was going on in the Middle East in around the 15th century?
How about China?
Japan?
Africa? Was 15th century Africa an egalitarian paradise do you think?
America is still today, the best place to live in the world if you are a minority. That doesn't mean we don't still have work to do. It means we probably shouldn't have decided we shouldn't have to work.

How's life on the local reservations? Horrid if you decide to stay on the reservations and not join American society.
Pretty much the same as everyone else if you decide not to stay stuck in the past. Or be forcibly kept in the past by the soft bigotry of low expectations and a culture of dependency.

I have to ask you bama. Where is this mythological paradise you're always talking about where white people live in luxury?

We were discussing Tuberville's American racism, so I responded accordingly. BTW, and you know this, I agree with your last paragraph almost entirely.

Funny story bama.
My daughter dated a native boy in high school and until her mid 20s. His nickname was "Chico" because so many people thought he looked like a Hispanic guy from some tv show.
Is that racist?

You're accurately describing remnants of American racism.

Can you give us an example of Tuberville's American racism that isn't simply one of these sensationalized "disagree on the narrative" engagements journalists are trying to suck revenue out of?

I don't know, Que. I'll trust your judgment on any discussion of your kids.

I believe that to be a disingenuous and leading question.

I share your disgust with the corporate media, but that doesn't make Tuberville less of a racist.

It's only to emphasize that here in South Dakota, me and my native friends have had very much the same lifestyle. I've witnessed blatant racism in my lifetime against the native population. And I've watched it ebb away. I've even watched natives cheering Trump in the local blue collar bar I sometimes frequent for lunch.
In California, my Hispanic and Filipino coworkers and friends had much the same lifestyle as well. Except the guy who introduced himself as a Republican because "Republicans are for the working man." He used to tell me how he would always argue with his daughter. The administrator for a hospital in a beach town. He still sends me pictures of him standing in his daughter's living room with the grandkids when it's 20 below now that I've had to return home to the cultural armpit of America.
Did you know racism isn't the divide in America ... class and economics is. As it always has been?
It's still the endless fight between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. I have no idea how you got yourself on the wrong side of that divide. Did you think the proletariat was going to be woke or something?

"White nationalist" doesn't mean "a nationalist who happens to be white." Yes MFA. You and I are both well aware of that fact.
The others in this thread and on CNN and on major news outlets are the ones that are having trouble understanding that a white man can be a nationalist and not be a White Nationalist. I have been very specific about how I respond to those like Greg who capitalize "White Nationalist" thereby indicating they are talking about the ideology, and those who understand that Tommy Tuberville is drawing a distinction between the racist ideology and a nationalist who happens to be white. Which is all one has to be to be branded a racist in today's' political climate. Because some of our thought leaders in this country have seen profit in perpetuating that kind of a narrative. It's just convenient we can't "hear" capitalization, no? Plenty of room to game the system then.
Why do you imagine Tommy Tuberville kept stressing he opposes racism in that exchange?
The heroes in our society are the ones who are standing up to this top down reconstruction of American society and in fact, reality. Like, sad as it is and as much as I cringe to admit it ... Tommy Tuberville. You can consider him an American Jordan Peterson.
I know nothing about Tommy Tuberville, but my read of the video was that he was either being naïvely ignorant or deliberately obtuse about the term. It would have been easy to clarify, "I'm talking about a 'nationalist that is white,' not what you mean."

Why did he keep stressing that? What point was he trying to illustrate?
I haven't watched this clip admittedly. I watched it play on CNN Replay this morning. Perhaps this clip is more edited. I'll go look.
Edit: Nope it's the same clip.
His opening remarks are literaly "First of all, I'm against any type of racism."
Are we mind reading now that that's not what he meant? Along with the tv personality asking the questions?

Because you have a distorted view of reality. /shrug
Sorry. I did what I could to help as you were victimized by the most extensive and sophisticated propaganda campaign in world history. I'm not a superhuman either.
Que, you and I both know how much you love to be the enlightened contrarian. I wouldn't want you any other way. But you can be wrong just like the rest of us. This thread is an example of that. EDIT: Tuberville is either a racist pandering to other racists or he is a person who is not a racist still pandering to racists. Those are the choices. No, he could be trying to make a point that is being missed. That is Brostradamus's point. My point is that, if this is the case (and I have no doubt that it is), he is being very unclear in his attempt.
