I'm just going to draw attention to this again.
Calling them racists and going out of the way to associate them with, tar them with the brush of and outright label them white nationalists, has been a losing proposition for the establishment. Not translating effectively at the ballot box .... yet. Some of Brostradamus's prophecies were long term and still on track.
But a losing proposition in the sense of the divide it is creating between the establishment and the American people.
Trumpism is a nationalist movement. It is not a White Nationalist movement.
That is a threat to the Democratic party. Because it combines the nationalist leanings of both the right *and* the left.
So it is in the Democratic party's interests to associate the Trumplican nationanlist movement with white nationalism. Despite many key figures not being white at all. Such as the leader of the Proud Boys. A nationalist organization that is constantly being associated with White Nationalism as a pejorative. And as minority support increases for the Trumplican national movement, it requires ever increasing efforts and rationalizations to keep the White Nationalism narrative alive.
If Tommy Tuberville actually caves on this he should be immediately removed from office by his constituency. Making a stand and then collapsing is worse than being John Thune. Or probably even John McCain joining in on insulting the people who voted him into officce.

LOL Hey everyone, 13% of trump voters aren't white nationalists! Aren't trump supporters great? Numbnuts is the first and only one to bring trump into this thread. Someone is a little super sensitive.

I realize you're not smart enough to understand the point I'm always making about how the tactic being used by the establishment is normalizing white supremacy by associating it with "that guy I know that votes Trump that's never been racist and even voted Obama" ...
But you realize that's new voters for the Republicans right? It's kind of a big fucking deal, you know?
Making them be what people think about when they think "White Nationalist" discredits the term.
Have you ever even been interested in politics? Ever in your life?

You are really out of your mother fucking mind aren't you? Tommy Tuberville makes it clear several times even in the original exchange that he is pushing back on the "nationalism = white nationalism" narrative. An argument that you are really out of your mother fucking mind because you can't see it, whether or not you even agree with it, is a powerful, powerful argument.

For those who can't see it here is why. This is representative of what has happened to the left in America for the last several years. And has turned America into a powder keg. \
Tommy Tuberville is clearly arguing that there are white people who are nationalists that are not racists. He stresses that constantly.
That is reality. Again. For it to be reality, it does not require you to agree with him. Only to acknowledge that that is what he is saying and respond by adjusting your own and clarifying that you are discussing the actual White Nationalist (with capital letters) term.
The reporter has a reason for deliberately not understanding him. She has editorial pressure pressuring her to make as many eyeballs as possible view the content she is creating. Because that's what most 24 hr journalists are these days. Content creators. Who don't get published if they don't draw eyeballs.
You don't have an excuse for allowing yourself to be redirected so far away from reality.

Oh, ffs. A nationalist who happens to be white isn't a white nationalist. They're just a nationalist.
White nationalist has a meaning, and that meaning isn't a nationalist that happens to be white.
I'm sorry, but I find that argument to be ridiculous.

And as I argued. It doesn't matter if you find that argument ridiculous or not.
That is clearly what Tommy Tuberville is arguing. And the reporter is having trouble understanding.

Is that supposed to be taken as an insult? I'm not clear on your meaning here. If you mean I'm someone that Hillary Clinton thinks is deplorable ... I'm pretty okay with that. I thought I'd made myself pretty clear on that point the past 5 years or so.

Tuberville is too stupid to understand a definition he should have known beforehand after it was explained to him. You're too stupid to understand why he's too stupid and for supporting him.

No Tuberville wasn't stupid enough to let himself be manipulated into calling his own constituency racist.
I used to try to point out that I don't necessarily agree that the reporter is manipulating him into calling his own constituency racist, but that is clearly what guys like Tuberville believe. I don't care anymore. In large part because it's become way too overly obvious since Trump broke the left and they stopped pretending any more, that the reporter is trying to manipulate him into calling his own constituency racist. Even if she doesn't realize that's what she's doing.

Why does it surprise people that the left has dog whistles too?
If they believe in "dog whistles."

The term has been in use for over 70 years. Its not new, and it has always been defined in the same way. Yup. The term has been in use for over 70 years and has a very clear definition. But it has been redefined in recent years. Perhaps with all the gloss being thrown around you slipped right over the "An organization redefines terms in pursuit of its own financial and political interests" part of my post.
Y'see there's been a problem for those who have built their political futures on racism. There's simply not a big enough supply of racism to meet the artificially created demand in recent years. It has required some fudging of the terms so they cover a wider swath of the population and can be properly fearmongered enough to drive political energy.
America has had more than enough racism to go around since Columbus started slaughtering and enslaving Tainos. Your commentary is just an example of it in its current form.

And as always, to make your argument, you have to reference something that happened 500 years ago.
From a time when all of humanity no matter color or nation was doing the same.

Tuberville wasn't stupid honest enough to let himself be manipulated into calling his own constituency racist.
I find this sentence to be much closer to the truth.

Because you have a distorted view of reality. /shrug
Sorry. I did what I could to help as you were victimized by the most extensive and sophisticated propaganda campaign in world history. I'm not a superhuman either.

Or maybe, again more accurately, I am commenting on America's 500+ years of racism.

Que, you and I both know how much you love to be the enlightened contrarian. I wouldn't want you any other way. But you can be wrong just like the rest of us. This thread is an example of that. EDIT: Tuberville is either a racist pandering to other racists or he is a person who is not a racist still pandering to racists. Those are the choices.
