In previous threads I ... and others .. have presented much of your evidence for the South's admission and willingness to wage war to defend slavery but the speeches given at Confederate memorial dedications is the final nail in the slaver apologist's coffin.

You're little more than the cheerleader for the team that just forfeited. I'm still standing on the field waiting after I easily refuted the premise of the OP. You've added nothing substantive to this thread, leaving your comrades to lose all by themselves. But you can still try to relevant if you'd like; if you attempt it, you'll lose as usual, but hey, I need the practice.
I've proven that the South legally seceded, that they were not traitors, that they did NOT wage war to defend slavery nor did they erect monuments to promote white supremacy. The Northern lies about the South fall apart with the slightest push back from me.... evidently, so do my opponents on this thread.

Thanks, I think we may have accidentally stumbled onto something interesting here. I was joking with Maestro about this being a book but I think it really could be. I agree that the articles of secession combined with these speeches present a rather damning case. There's really nothing effective to say in response to this. It can *only* be dismissed out of hand and ignored. The moment our friends, the 'war was about state's rights' crowd, grapple with the fact that the confederates admitted, in no uncertain terms, that they were fighting for slavery and erecting monuments to honor confederate actions during AND *after* the war, including endorsements of legal separatism, the argument is over with. The facts are the facts. Its empirically obvious. So they ignore the facts and engage in all sorts of whataboutery and deflection. Some will even throw a dictionary at you in a futile attempt to find some magical phrase that will make it all go away. |

Like Fiddler, you've confused the ORDINANCES (not "Articles") of Secession with the four "Declarations of Causes" (out of eleven seceded states). Even grade schoolers know the difference, but not little TL and his gang.
Of the four Declarations, the South Carolina document spoke of slavery only 20% of the time, so you're left with just three Declarations and the "Cornerstone" Speech by VP Stephens. Objectively, that's not sufficient data for an empirical analysis of the cause of the war or even the causes of secession. It's certainly not enough to assign those motivations to five MILLION Southerners in 1861, but desperate Lincoln apologists try anyway.
Ask anytime and I can once again PROVE why slavery was NOT the cause. All you have to do is ask. I can lead you to knowledge, but I can't make you think.
You have the same lack of data and insufficient evidence, beyond the anecdotal, to show any link between the later monuments and slavery/white supremacy. Your desperate cherry picking within speeches by politicians who were mere guests during monument dedications shows your lack of any real evidence.
By that twisted, nonsensical "bad speeches make bad monuments" logic, if someone farted during one of the dedication ceremonies, we could also declare that all of the monuments were really about the protection of flatulence.
Only a fool thinks he's being "ignored" when he's actually being soundly refuted. And it's you who's clinging to a magic word or phrase to smear an entire region. "The Fallacy of the Magic Word/Phrase", remember?
