Sure enough, today the Orioles humbled the Cubs, 7-1, sending the Cubs further down the cellar stairs.
Tomorrow it won't get any better for the Cubs, with them paired against the top rated Mets.
Looking forward to it!

Cubs have lost both games today to the Mets, and have sunk to the bottom of the cellar.

He's a very sick puppy. Making fun of a mass shooting with multiple deaths in my hometown is very, very disturbing behavior just to annoy me is the height of narcissism. He was always a strange ranger, a hermit, never married, with no friends or family that speaks to him hoarding decades worth of stuff at his dilapidated ranch house in northern California but when he got in the face of his neighbor who beat the living shit out of him and hospitalized him something else in his personality changed and not for the better. He became more vindictive and obsessively petty with obsessive compulsive tendencies with an inflated sense of self importance and no boundaries. As he never leaves his house and doesn't really seem to have any resemblance to a normal life these forums have become his existence and his way of interacting with the outside world. He's gone from BRD and the collective over there is applauding. His petty vindictiveness wore thin fast. He really did not contribute in any meaningful way except as the court jester, much as he does here. I've got him on ignore here and for the last couple of months pretty much the entire board at BRD had him on ignore. It improved the quality of the board measurably. I suggest to all here to do the same, you won't regret it. |

Well, the Cubs managed to lose again today.
Yup, the American League team beat the National League in the All Star Game.
Of course, the Cubs had some players on the NL team. Figures.

Dodger pitching cost the NL that game.
Goldie puts NL ahead and then they take they him out of the game.
The NL goes oh-for-forever and loses the game.

In a surprise upset, the Oakland Athletics swept the AL West Division leading Houston Astros in three games in Oakland.
Go figure.
Does this mark a resurgence of the Athletics? Who knows?

But it is interesting. Oakland seems to tend to over perform given their talent. Kind of like Tampa Bay, except Tampa has talent—they over perform given their budget. Still, a surprise to sweep Houston. Anything can happen in baseball over the short haul. |

Yesterday the Giants beat the Cubs, 4-2.
They play each other again today and tomorrow.
And so the Cubs sink back into the entrance to the cellar, while the Giants are knocking on the door to the 500 plus gathering.
Cool beans.

Today the Cubs got blanked by the St. Louis Cards, 6-0, and are now knocking on the door to the NL Central Cellar, held off by only 4/100ths by the current bottom feeders, the Pirates. Since the Pirates today beat the Brewers, and play them again tomorrow, it's quite possible the Pirates will rise to let the Cubs fall through the trap door to the NL Central Cellar. And that would be nice!

I fully admit they have not been as successful this year. Mostly mid-pack. But their saving grace is now showing the Cubs how to play real baseball.

And, lo and behold, today the Cards ushered the Shitcargo Chubs into the NL Central Cellar, 7-2. I'm surprised the Chubs even made two runs. But true to form, the Chubs got murdered anyway.
Tomorrow the Chubs pair off against the Marlins.
Guess who I'll be rooting for...

Today, 8-20-22, the Oakland Athletics beat the Seattle Mariners, in Oakland, 4-3. This is somewhat remarkable because there's nearly a .200 gap between their relative standings.
The A's were leading, 3-2, into the ninth inning, when the Mariners evened the score. So it went into the 10th inning, where the A's managed to climb on top.
