I agree, viewing would be fine. One thing, apparently there are people that want to join but have problems getting registered. Some Admin email Dropbox on the homepage might be appropriate to contact you if they have trouble.

If they don't trust you with their info - like birth date and email address, axe them. They are probably up to no good anyway.
PS-I think "Nom de Plume" may be Bert. I'd be embarrassed to admit to that, too.
