This isn't a global conflict between democracy and authoritarian regimes. And we (the U.S.) shouldn't ignore our interests to engage in an ideological conflict, and currently our interests include keeping India onside or neutral to maintain a balance of power strategy in Asia.

Ukrainian military casualty numbers are hard to come by, but there's an indication that they might be having an issue maintaining their forces:

In a separate thread, Jasmine asked if we would intervene militarily in Ukraine. Based on some recent Washington Post reporting, we're a lot closer to that than we previously knew: Source

The former is especially relevant, because we also provided targeting assistance to Saudi Arabia in Yemen, which was specifically mentioned in the 2019 war powers resolution. This arguably makes us a belligerent in the war now.

If you have a serious interest in this conflict, I highly recommend this; provides a lot of context for the current war:

First, some more context for the current war: Source
And apparently there's a peace proposal floating around the UN (that really isn't new): Source
Here's that 10 point plan from November.

The Financial Times has a story about Latin America's position on the war. Just posting a link:
And more on the ammunition issue which is going to be important, so take note:

I'm reminded of my posts a year ago characterizing the United States as a former heavyweight boxer gone to seed ... unprepared to live up to the neocon rhetoric on Ukraine.

I'm reminded of my posts a year ago characterizing the United States as a former heavyweight boxer gone to seed ... unprepared to live up to the neocon rhetoric on Ukraine. I don’t have real convictions on where I stand on this issue. From a don’t tread on me standpoint, to the extent every single problem we have today seems to be blamed on Russia (energy prices, food prices, supply chain) to whatever extent this is true, I’d say squash them like a bug. And do it fast. Stop exchanging lunch for punch. If what Russia is doing has zero impact on us at all, now or in the future, I don’t care. We have enough of our own problems to deal with that are significant. Then I ask what is the UN for. Or nato. I know Ukraine is not part of nato but it’s worth asking if Russia attacked a nato nation, then what. Would we be engaged punch or punch for a decade or would we just level Russia. My tendency is trace thru strength mantra. How hard is it to not attack a neighbor. And if you do, be prepared to suffer so badly you and your country will not consider an idiot move for generations.

Russia told us repeatedly - for years - that Ukraine and Georgia joining NATO was a red line too (which we ignored). Suddenly we care about red lines now that we're in an actual war.
Meanwhile, Israel still playing a balancing game: Source

Gosh! The Swiss aren't taking a moral position over criminally-gained assets held in their vaults! Had to be a first time.
