Not sure that it's in the dictionary. Here it is in actual use. Could be that you are familiar with the story. "Blind Seer : You seek a great fortune, you three who are now in chains. You will find a fortune, though it will not be the one you seek. But first... first you must travel a long and difficult road, a road fraught with peril. Mm-hmm. You shall see thangs, wonderful to tell. You shall see a... a cow... on the roof of a cotton house, ha. And, oh, so many startlements. I cannot tell you how long this road shall be, but fear not the obstacles in your path, for fate has vouchsafed your reward. Though the road may wind, yea, your hearts grow weary, still shall ye follow them, even unto your salvation."
From "O Brother Where Art Thou?"..

The quote is from oh brother, this particular startled cow event is from another movie, and the quote would have made a good clue, but for "startlement" not being standardized vocabulary in California. Most folk from Alabama would have understood it straightaway.

So let us know when you have selected a movie.

There have been 2 clues so far. Clue #2 borrowed from and altered a quote found in "oh brother, where art thou?". Both movies have a cow; however, the cow in our subject movie is even more of a startlement than the cow standing on the cottonhouse roof in "oh brother, where art thou".
Everybody clear?

Clue #5 - When the door dings It's just this friend of his that says "Hey, what's the matter, man? You goingna come around for dinner at six I got some Sister-In-Law girl thats just dying to meet you
this quote is very loosely taken from a Rolling Stones song. The clue to the movie is in the new words that have been added to the song.

Not when you are posting clues to movies and works that are not the one in question.

What are you talking about? All clues are to the subject movie. Are you quitting again?

Do you have memory issues?
You posted clues that reference works that are not the subject of the puzzle.
When you verify that your clues refer directly to the puzzle subject I *might* resume play, as is my prerogative.
Try dealing from a straight deck.

Hmm, all clues have been for the subject movie. I wasn't aware that Clue #1 saying that this is a foreign film would lead to confusing a re-worded partial quote from an American movie and a rolling stones song. The answer is easily found in the 10 clues I offered, unlike the last guessing game that went to 32 without complaint. Are you quitting again?

Normally we just post clues to one movie, the movie in question. I'm not sure how many movies you are quoting by this point.

I'm not sure how or why you are confused. I even gave step by step directions in #5.
