Let me clarify something that scientists have been saying since day one but politicians and journalists have brainwashed people like atreyu into disbelieving. We are not getting rid of covid 19. It is here to stay. Our only way out of this is through establishing herd immunity. You've heard of it, because scientists and researchers keep talking about it. And eeeeevery once in awhile it bursts through the mindless cultlike chanting of news programming and rank and file leftists. Look how quickly atreyu ... because of an update in her programming ... has already forgotten the purpose of the shutdowns wasn't to eradicate the virus. It was to "flatten the curve." Haven't heard that buzz phrase in awhile have you? Whatever happened to all my leftist friends sharing memes about flattening the curve? They got a software update. That's what. Queshank
Again this is one of the most idiotic things I've read by someone claiming they are following the science.
You don't hope for herd immunity for every new virus. You lock down and contain it. Herd immunity is what you hope for AFTER containment and lock down has failed.
Your idea doesn't even pass the smell test because its bullshit.

Your trust fund doing fine so you don't understand what everyone's so upset about or why George Floyd needed to shuck and jive to try to afford a lousy pack of cigarettes?
You think everyone's fine because your beloved Democrats are offering UBI to everyone in the short term? Are you aware 1/3rd of unemployed people haven't received their checks yet? That most places are 5 weeks behind in sending out the money to people that ARE receiving checks?
What exactly do you think is "dramatic" in pointing out the obvious?

C'mon Atreyu. What happened to "flatten the curve" to give hospitals time to cope with this?
How'd that whole "avoiding exposure" thing work out for the native population here in America? Think if they coulda just stayed sheltered in place a few hundred more years they'd have been just fine when the Europeans came?

No, I have not sabotaged your life. The virus has not sabotaged your life because you are still alive. Don't be such a victim.
If you want to complain about weak government support structure during emergency situations, I'm all ears, but it appears your politics support this structure. If anything you sabotaged yourself.
Other first world countries have handled this remarkably well. Including delivering food directly to houses in order to help people stay insulated.
If your attitude is "f you, I've got mine" then you better be prepared to handle emergencies with no help.

You're so far behind the curve in this argument. "Flattening the curve" does allow less people to die. That's only after initial containment has failed. You're starting to catch up.

I got in an argument with a coworker when he tried to suggest people were lucky they were alive even if the shutdowns destroyed their business they've spent 12 years developing. He started ranting soon after about how the human race was going to be wiped out if we hadn't locked down. You one of those? That where you going next?
