In Cali, we were given the option of going back or staying home, and the vast majority chose home.
Once you get COVID, even if you recover, your immunity only lasts about 2 months. Worse, kids around 10 won't get sick, but they have the same quantity of virus in their blood as adults, so they are still contagious vectors.
I have ZERO concern about my kids getting sick in school, but MASSIVE concern about getting the teachers sick, and them bringing possible infection back home.

That does seem to be the line being peddled by the left. Kids development be damned and not all teachers are of the age of susceptibility. Odd how the DC mayor even disagrees. Abe, I've often disagreed with you, but you seeing COVID as a hoax crosses the line for me. THIS IS NOT POLITICS OR IDEOLOGY. IT IS SCIENCE.
If you cannot see that, you're just stupid. And I don't mean that as a metaphor. I mean you are literally a non-intelligent human.

Since they are insisting on DC schools opening, any word on when the White House will be re-opened for public visitation? Clearly, the coast is clear!

And when is Baron Trump's school fully reopening?

Fuck your line you nasty piece of shit. I tried egnaging your civilly but civility isn't your strong point. The sign of a weak mind with no ability to refute so it attacks. Go hide under your bed. Whenever you are ready hop over to the other thread and give a real reply as to what Trump should have done to beat the visrus and come up with cure, let me know. You bitch and whine a lot which is fine if you had a solution. In this case it's wear masks. LOL Yepothat will be the "cure" You do know what a cure means, right? An imbecile does not understand what a weak mind is, so you have no frame of reference.
You are the part of our population that is stupid. All populations have them, whether in this forum, or this country. You're it.
I've always been interested in meeting you. Now I know what the rest of us are up against.
You seem mostly harmless, so I am done with you.

You simply can't help yourself can you? Nobody knows how long immunity lasts. Kids can get sick.

Like Lomelis, this guy is too stupid to know he is stupid. Dunning-Kruger.

Freon Has the vast majority really chosen to stay home? Granted, I don't live in CA, but we have in-school and online options this year. About 12% of my students have chosen the online option. The vast majority here is choosing in-school. How does it work in CA?

Each district seems to be giving the option to the families they support, and I do not have the data to answer your question. I don't think we will really know until the next semester actually starts. Things are also constantly changing.

Ah, ok. A major issue with staying at home is, if you have younger children and no parent that can feasibly stay home, the only other option available to most people is daycare (completely undoing the benefit of keeping the kids out of school) or sending them to older, retired relatives, another unpalatable choice for obvious reasons. Having said that, if we’re still having in-person classes in November, I’m going to be surprised. One day at a time, I guess.

Having said that, if we’re still having in-person classes in November, I’m going to be surprised. One day at a time, I guess. I completely agree with your assessment, and I happen to be in a position that allows work from home with no problems (accept each family member driving each other crazy).
One thing we were discussing is virtual school augmented by 'pods' of children who get outside tutoring/mentoring/supervising. This would essentially be 5-7 kids, with a trained/licenses person to make sure they get their homework done, answer questions, etc, at an hourly rate of some sort. We would host at each child's house on a rotating schedule. The downside is that this means only well off children would get this benefit, so I am proposing that our pod (because it is likely we are going to do this) include at least one child from a lower income family who we pay for. It's just wrong to me that my child gets a basic education benefit simply because they were born to more successful parents. Freon
