#MAGA It didn't have to be this way.
A national mandate to wear masks and social distance, plus contact tracing, and other basic inexpensive actions would have made that number smaller, and we would be back to normal about now.
It took 9 years in Vietnam to get 90,000 deaths. Trump managed 150,000, and it's not even a year.
I would call Trump a bad leader, but really, he isn't a leader at all. Freon

Do you really want to cede that much power to the president...that he can dictate to every state what individuals in those states must do....I not talking about whether masks are good or bad....don't you want that coming from each states governors and mayors... I certainly do not want give give the US pres that much power over the states...because what's next.... I'd encourage you to think of the principle of what you are advocating, and not the specific item, which may theoretically be good...but now you have opened up the box.

Should the use of our military be in the hands of each state? Of course not, because it is for the protection of the entire country. That is where federal control should be used.
This Pandemic is a national threat, and it should have a national response strategy that is implemented by each state in their own way.
I am not advocating that federal forces invade the states implementing federal policy, that WOULD be wrong.
But mandating that everyone where masks and social distance? That's just smart and appropriate. You are conflating a national response strategy to a pandemic with ceding state's rights in general. A complete false equivalence.

I absolutely disagree this is a national emergency...Our very large county, which includes our state capital, has had 10 deaths...we have had more traffic fatalities....and all of those people were in their upper 70's and 80's, with prior issues...almost all 10 in nursing homes.
in the meantime, our governors shut down of our entire state, in our county, has cost at least 20 small businesses in our small town, just along main street and surrounding streets. It has been devastating economically, and w have almost no deaths. It should not even be a statewide mandate...county wide perhaps, county by county...
Besides, this notion that every person in the country is an idiot, and you need the president to dictate what you must do, when there is so much information out there, is so beyond ridiculous...
Look at the massive killings in chicago, ny, detroit etc the massive destruction of federal property by killers and looters and rioters...talk about an emergency...
but I guess if we can shift the narrative and blame the virus on trump, we will have less time, or no time, to watch our country annihilated by radical thugs.

Until you suddenly die from it.
Let's let the experts determine the severity of this instead of backseat drivers, ok? I don't blame the virus on Trump, I blame him for the SEVERITY of it. His choices have killed Americans, plain and simple. You may see this politically, but I see it scientifically. I would be just as angry at Obama, if he had botched this the same way.

So I take it you've been writing all your representatives about the awful situations in Portland? Oh wait, no I'm sure you've enacted your second amendment right and went to defend them personally.
Yeah you don't give a shit about states rights, quit pretending you do.

Nov 4th no matter who wins, the virus fades into history. That is just not true. The earliest we will see this go away is likely Spring, 2021.

Oh well that settles it. You say it is and many say it isn't. Sorry but there's enough evidence on both sides of the issue. What number are we up to? Out of 330,000,000+? Pandemic is a word that evokes fear which is probably why the left likes to toss it around so loosely. You got it partially right. www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pandemicI'd say that doesn't make it a pandemic here in the U.S. Nowhere near it. You panic and I and others will get on with life as best we can.

It's not going away. The flu can survive 6, 7, 8 months of being dormant and come back year after year and COVID-19 doesn't seem to go dormant. This thing is here to stay and humanity is going to live with it for millennia, not months.

Put up an argument and try. I gave you my reply and asked you questions which you ran from. Sorry that your thread failed to get your desired outcome. It pretty simple that morally it was wrong. Generations later if you want reparations then you can't dismiss the process for doling them out. You acknowleded that much And lo and behold I'm not the only one that said that to you. I'm not sure you know what your own point or intent was. So what were you attempting to do? Both Cons and Libs said it was morally wrong. Meh!
