Even the pagans knew there was a global Flood. If there was a global Flood within the last 10,000 years that reduced the Earth's population to 8, absolutely everyone would know it, and many of the contours of the story would be similar. But plenty of cultures don't have a great Flood story. So why do so many cultures have great flood stories? Most human civilization built up around water. Depends on the place. You can look up the specifics yourself. Burial and pressure, same as other fossils. We find igneous rocks in every country, which proves there was a massive volcano 10,000 years ago. No? See, your argument just isn't very good. This is a few lines of a poem, not an "ancient geological survey". And the author is describing erosion and rockslides, not a global flood. No one says this, since birds evolved before T. Rexes. If you don't do any of the actual work in archeology, geology, paleontology, etc., why should I care what you think?

How is this "operational science"? Lets just say there were eye witnesses to the Flood and the aftermath of the Flood. The Flood was such a major event that all ancient antiquity records it. There are even three or four Flood legends know to the native Americans. If the world was covered in water then we'd expect to find fossils in sedimentary rock. We'd see sedimentation on all the mountains. All these things we see. The fossils at the peaks of each mountain confirms all these things. But "witnesses" isn't "operational science."

So...no imagination then. What about...a volcano? Oh...I see reading previous posts that volcanic activity has now come up. Disregarding any other physical phenomena, what about "just a volcano"? Just a volcano will not product sedimentary rock all over the world. We were talking about the formation of a whale fossil. That was the subject of conversation. Not the forming of sedimentary rock all over the world.

Only God could make vertical sediment.

Not the forming of sedimentary rock all over the world. You don't get it do you? The whale fossils are found in sedimentary rock which proves the cause of death was rapid burial in the sediments due to the force of rushing water. These whales where way above sea level at the time they were buried. Ever see videos on recent tsunamis? Picture that but instead a global Flood. Sedimentary rock isn't formed by fire. Its formed by the erosive force of water...lots of water. Ever see a damn collapse due to water pressure? All it takes is a single crack and from there the water rapidly erodes right through that crack, breaking through the damn and demolishing the damn as if it wasn't there. Rapid erosion is a true physical process responsible for curving out our canyons. When living things are rapidly buried into the sediments that produces the right conditions for fossilization. A beached whale is not rapidly buried and therefore will sit out in the sun and decay and rot, while scavengers feast on it. Living creatures just don't become fossils when they die. That requires rare conditions before fossilization can happen. The mass fossil record we have was done by water...lots of water. Even evolutionists not have to accept a near global Flood added to their asteroid theory to avoid utter embarrassment. Without a whole lotta water there is no explaining the fossil record. You have yet to provide an answer as to what happened that caused fossilization to marine creatures before these alleged tectonic uplifts? I know you won't answer it so nevermind. You're a troll. I get it.

There are no animals around to consume it before it is completely covered in ash.

Paenarthrobacter ureafaciens KI72 eats nylon, an artificial material which didn't exist before 1935. It's possible that this bacterium, which was discovered in 1975, always existed with the potential to eat something that would not exist for thousands of years, but remained undiscovered all that time, but I'm not sure how likely that is. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nylon-eating_bacteria

However, the truth reveals the opposite conclusions in terms of whale falls.

But most of the fossil record is simply sedimentary rock with a few exceptions where fossils are found buried in volcanic ash. But here we also see water play a major role in the process of fossilization. Right now I don't have time to break all this down but you can simply study American dinosaur graveyards and learn quite a lot from that. I'd also study Mexican dinosaur graveyards because that discredits the K-Pg story.

Ashfall deposits produce igneous sediment--which, technically fall into the category of sedimentary rock. However, most sedimentary rocks are produced solely by water since there is no ashfall deposits. Volcanism did occur during the Flood as to be expected with so much water filling the earth and tectonic activity happening all over the globe. Remember, before the Flood the earth was watered from the ground up. These are the fountains of the deep. The Flood was a combination of 40 days worth of heavy rainfall and the fountains of the deep bursting open.

Where'd all the water go? Yeah, that's a lot of water!!! If god can make so much water disappear why couldn't he just kill the bad people (with a plague or something) and let the ecosystem, the animals, the innocent and the children alone... What a negligent piece of crap!! No wonder the world is the such a bad shape with such an incompetent asshole at the helm!!!

Where'd all the water go? That's a good question. Back when I was a hard-core literalist, young-earth creationist, the answer would have been...pre-Flood, the earth was flatter. The Flood effected tectonic activity that exacerbated both the heights (mountains) and depths (deeper oceans). So it's not that there is "more or less water," it's that the water is in "different places." It would also help to explain how mountains were covered by water, because they simply weren't as tall. Now, though, I'm not convinced that that is a "best fit" explanation for the physical evidence left behind and that "literal history" is the point of the Flood story. Too often the fight to defend the "literal history" of the text forces the text to exist just to be "literal history," and the intent of the text is discarded. That's my experience, anyway.

The text was written at a time when people were ignorant fools and they wouldn't have seen anything wrong with it any more than in god making the (holy) beast with two backs with a virgin so that he could have a son. These people had an excuse they were ignorant narrowminded imbeciles. What's your excuse?
