My favorite western of all time: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly.
That movie is just perfect, the actors, the dialogues, the scenes, the pacing... everything!

TGBU is pretty darn good.
But I don't know if it's my favorite Western.
I'll have to think about this before naming another, though.

More good uns. I only listed the ones in my store bought DVD collection. I might have some others in my broadcast to DVD collection, but that currently is not in a searchable storage situation. I remember well the song about Liberty Valence. I was young enough that I didn't understand WTF it was about, just that the older siblings and kids were all enthused. I got kind of sick hearing the song played over and over, LOL.

I'm gonna have to watch one of the westerns in my collection. Currently I have a copy of "Risky Business" in the deck. I'd never seen it before, and probably will never see it again. I do remember ladies swooning over Tom Cruise at the time. Seems kind of silly now.

I have a mid-40ish daughter who knows that I am a film buff, so sadly I could not escape seeing "RB" soon after she realized that I had "Never seen it!". To me, it is one of those movies that was more hype than movie, so the longer it takes you to see it for the first time, maybe the less likely it is to impress you. Still, it does have a following. |

It's not completely awful, but the plot is so absurd I had a hard time sitting through the little that I got to. I might just replace it with some old B&W studio western.

I've never seen Tom Cruise in anything good. He even managed to be in the only bad Kubrick movie.

My recording is from a broadcast, so a lot of the dialog was bleeped out (lots of fuck this and that) as well as the blurred shots of Rebecca deMornay's more interesting parts. I very much doubt I will ever watch it again, at least not voluntarily.
