It matters because you keep throwing your favorite label around, and it doesn't match. May want to dust the record off as it keeps looping.

I literally have no idea why you asked that question.
OK, let's back up.
The article linked in the OP does not make any racist comments.
But for some strange reasons you seem to think it does, and are defending its right so to do.
Why?
I'm sorry, I'm still not following you. Is this an attempt to try to say I'm using the word "publish" wrong? I really don't understand your responses to me otherwise. As you say, let's back up. The article said the kid was arrested, not for yelling, but for posting racist social media messages. I raised concerns about governments that criminalize the publishing of racist messages. You suggested that I thought "yelling racist things at a sporting event" made someone a publisher. I asked what you were talking about as that had nothing to do with what I said or what I saw in the article. Then you said I seem to think the article contains racist messages in it. Do you agree with that summary? The only conclusion I can come to is this is your attempt to criticize my correct use of the word "publish." If that's the case, I'm sorry, but you're very much mistaken. LINKIf I'm misunderstanding your point, I'm willing to listen. Please clarify what you're trying to say.

OK, for some reason I thought the 12 yo was yelling racist slurs at a soccer meet. Perhaps I was thinking of a different incident/article. My apology; never mind!

Cool.
But I would re-iterate that we cannot expect a foreign nation, in this case the UK, to adhere to the same standard of free speech and freedom of the press that we profess (but often don't follow anyway).
For example, if the kid had made false accusations about the player's parentage or morals, that could be countered with a civil sit for libel here. I agree, not the same as the police getting involved, but for a 12 yo with likely no assets it could be just as bad.
Remember, in Switzerland you could be prosecuted of a crime for criticizing the Queen of England.

No, but we can say that we think their position is inferior (as I'm sure some of them think of ours). If I can criticize Saudi Arabia, North Korea and others for some of their laws, I'd be a bit of a hypocrite for ignoring our closer allies. I think arresting a 12-year old merely for posting racist words online is troubling and indicative of a problem even more because England is a western nation and a close ally. Besides, our national founding document was literally a rant about what England was doing wrong. I'm just rollin' like the Jeff. More seriously, if there was constant abuse rising to the level of harassment or some sort of restraining order violation, that would be different, but the article makes no such statement. It only mentions the existence of racist content in the post as the reason for the arrest. That's troubling to me.
