Social distancing, face masks, hand washing, shutting down indoor public gatherings, etc etc etc, all are valid measures to slow the spread of the virus.

Slow down for the purpose of what? Will the virus go extinct if we do all those things?

The purpose of slowing the spread, or "flattening the curve", is to conserve health care resources so that there will be enough beds, nurses, ICU's, etc to take care of blokes like you when your refusal to wear masks, wash your hands, shelter at home, etc lands you in the terminal ward.

Likelihood of landing in the terminal ward is very low. Not going out in a hazmat suit doesn't mean you are going to end up in the hospital you loon. |

The best way to achieve herd immunity is vaccination or resistance shots. Strangely, the same people that compare COVID to the flu don’t realize our yearly solution to fighting a wider spread of the flu isn’t for everyone to constantly get it. There is currently no concrete evidence that people obtain permanent immunity to COVID after contracting it, especially since not enough time has past to verify such a process long term. The flu changes.
As does COVID-19, even if there is only one current strand that is easy to become transmissible from one subject to another.
