Democrat Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump in Iowa 47% to 44%, a new Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll shows. A victory for Harris would be a shocking development after Iowa has swung aggressively to the right in recent elections, delivering Trump solid victories in 2016 and 2020. The poll shows that women — particularly those who are older or are politically independent — are driving the late shift toward Harris. Trump continues to lead with his core base of support: men, evangelicals, rural residents and those without a college degree. www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/politics/iowa-poll/2024/11/02/iowa-poll-kamala-harris-leads-donald-trump-2024-presidential-race/75354033007/I'm confused how Trump simulating oral sex during his recent rally didn't close the deal with women. He should own that female vote, yes?

A Harris landslide is a best possible result.

Trump won Iowa by 8 in 2020. Polls in Iowa have consistently shown Trump ahead in Iowa with a healthy lead. This thread won't age well.

It can happen. 2012 polling in Iowa also consistently showed Obama ahead by a few points or at minimum tied. He won by 5. This poll in this thread is a -major-outlier. But hey if ya'll want to cling to it out of desperation it's all good.

"Now, independent women choose Harris over Trump 57% to 29%. That’s up from September, when independent women gave her just a 5-point lead, 40% to 35%."
So, what explains the shift in independent women?
This poll is an outlier, but some of the others have a smaller sample size, though Emerson's is a similar size. ( Source)
Harris winning would certainly be a shocking upset. Trump won in 2016 and improved on his margin in 2020.

Especially if she's running vs. a wannabe tyrant.

Welp Just going to take this opportunity to remind people that they need to learn to be smart consumers of information. And use common sense. Sometimes anecdotal evidence and experience counts more than what the “authorities” tell you. I can listen all day long to Walensky and the cdc tell me if I’m vaccinated I won’t get or spread covid. But when 50 people tell me they’ve all been vaccinated and still got covid I might place more credibility on actual experience. I’ve been surprised - living in a radically blue state - how many people have told me they are voting trump. Many I know who are dyed in the wool democrats. Now Harris won Rhode Island. But not nearly by as much as the media and polls were saying she would win by.

People should take stock of these sources for future reference.
Disregard anything these garbage organizations are telling you.
Iowa wasn't close.
