This was something that happened over weeks or months in the virtual square. "Stop the Steal" culminated in meat space activity on J6 but it is not limited to that day. If we start history on J6 and ignore the messaging around it, then, yeah, some tourists got out of control and MAGA is largely blameless. But history didn't start on that day, the record is what it is, and there was a plot to overturn the will of the voters, which included fake electors, and a plan to use intimidation to change the VP's constitutional duties. Nobody defending MAGA wants to admit this was the plan. They can't. It's a fatal flaw. It's inexcusable. Some would say it's all good in the hood because the plan failed but that POV dismisses the potential harm that comes about from these kinds of scorched-earth-tactics. Winning isn't that important.
