I reject the implications of your question, but even if I take them for argument’s sake, your question is puzzling. Hypothetically, would you rather have a very smart antagonist threatening you or a very dumb one? The idea that our democracy is threatened by actions undertaken by an organized and capable enemy is silly considering how powerful our government is. The real threat to democracy comes from a loss of faith. Quite so. And faith in these institutions continues to descend. Instead of holding anybody accountable for failing the people, your plan seems to be to tell the people “cmon guys. Have more faith again.” And that won’t change any trend.

Let's get the fuck outta here!" Exactly. it wasn't peaceful or free, even if we got to the same outcome in the end. If a cop stops a thief and the property is returned, we don't get to pretend nothing happened. Sounds “dumb and paranoid” that just because Trump was president when January 6th happened that he is responsible. Makes you wonder how the unorganized and aimless plot found itself at the capitol on Jan 6th and not Jan 5th or 7th? Must've been just a coincidence that something dealing with the transfer of power was going on there that day. It's not like Trump and Co had any messaging around this day, what it means and what they would like to see happen. No, no, no, that can't be.

When I vote I am holding someone accountable on this issue. And a lot of my internet presence, as it concerns politics, is aimed at holding folks accountable for this failing. But I am glad to see we can find agreement on this issue regarding the fragility of institutions and the importance of being actively engaged so we get better outcomes.

I saw it myself. How did people know to come to DC to see the speech?

"Stop the Steal!" Our collective recall is a little rusty. That phrasing might help trigger some memories re: this time in our history. That's assuming the memory lapse is indeed honest.

See how you and Rinse responded identically? I shouldn’t be surprised. What do you want to use? Then use it. I tried to guess, was obviously wrong, now do something instead of unnecessary and irrelevant smugness.

There's no "there." This was something that happened over weeks or months in the virtual square. "Stop the Steal" culminated in meat space activity on J6 but it is not limited to that day. If we start history on J6 and ignore the messaging around it, then, yeah, some tourists got out of control and MAGA is largely blameless. But history didn't start on that day, the record is what it is, and there was a plot to overturn the will of the voters, which included fake electors, and a plan to use intimidation to change the VP's constitutional duties. Nobody defending MAGA wants to admit this was the plan. They can't. It's a fatal flaw. It's inexcusable. Some would say it's all good in the hood because the plan failed but that POV dismisses the potential harm that comes about from these kinds of scorched-earth-tactics. Winning isn't that important.

I am talking about MAGA more generally, Trump and his people, Bannon, the Goypers, Patrick Bet David, Tucker, Elon, Tim Pool, Candace Owens, and all of the bloggers, men raging into their phones while sitting in their trucks, etc. I just call it MAGA.

Oh. So this was their plan and January 6th was the execution of these people’s plan?

If Trump was truly a threat to Democracy then he would have seized power during the pandemic like the left wanted him to do.

It took hitler nearly a decade to seize power and abolish democracy under quasi-ideal conditions, you jackass. Do you think your fat tub of lard of an idol could do better under conditions that are far less favorable? You are a fucking imbecile!

The most opportune time for him to do so would have been March/April 2020. He didn't even try. Calm down. Take a bath. You'll feel better.
