It appears right now that none of the names he mentioned were being paid directly by Russia or even knew the money was Russian.
Lauren Chen and an even lesser known right wing personality were likely the ones truly implicated.
We’ll see how the investigation turns out.

Russia is antidemocratic, profoundly criminal, and wholly opposed to the rule of law. It has almost no vestiges of extreme socialist political structures remaining. It seeks to degrade Westeen norms of democracy & rule of law, through influencing campaigns. It is not connected to Western left thought in any way, other than (probably) using Left groups as disruptors just as ir does use Righr groups. I give you Brexit. |

I agree that authoritarian can be either, historically speaking Clearly these days there are far more example of hard left (socialist / communist) examples of authoritarians. Russia is 11 time zones I believe. I have several contacts in Russia via a good friend who I sponsored to become a us citizen years ago to be our lead developer. When you talk with people in Russia they will tell you that outside of Moscow not much has changed since the communist days. Still authoritarian. Still don’t get to choose education tracts. Still scared to death of offending govt officials. Regardless. I was simply quoting oxfords definition of right wing. The free enterprise and private ownership stuff. Which isn’t all that bad. |
