And yet they're all "elite, out of touch" millionaires. None of them having run any kind of business or made money in the private sector like the ones you're criticizing. In other words ... none of them ever had to sully themselves by rubbing elbows with the plebs. Certainly not bagging groceries or serving time in the military like that darn elitist Vance.
Did you know Vance was sucking up to Trump in the very same sentence in which he supposedly called Trump "America's Hitler?" I wonder why this part of what he said is always clipped out: "back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical a–hole like Nixon who wouldn’t be that bad (and might even prove useful) or ..."
Have you read his book? Or watched the netflix movie of his book? I haven't. I tried to watch the Netflix version but Glenn Close was just gross. From everything I've read about it in reviews in the NY Times et al, he and Trump were brothers from another mother long before he started dressing like him. Queshank
I would guess that most of them had some experience working regular jobs and meeting "regular" Americans. Bagging groceries is a noble profession, but I doubt it has much relevance to being TLOTFW. That was pre-suck up in 2016. He did call him America's Hitler. Guess he wasn't a history major. Adding the rest of the quote referring to Nixon doesn't help that much, though it does remind me of the Watergate era joke about Nixon not being half the man Hitler was. Haven't read the book or seen the movie or gone to the musical. If they were brothers why would he be so critical of Trump pre-suck up? I think there are some reviews which question his take on Appalachia or accuse him of just transposing the inner city ghetto to Kentucky. One comedian's view of Vance. Actually met Vance:

VYPR likes to point out how critical I was of Trump at one time. So I'm sympathetic to others like Vance and Bill Barr realizing how much worse things will be for democracy and liberalism if the opposition gets their way.

I still don't see Biden stepping down. When the hubbub dies down it'll be celebrated as "Biden always pulls it out when it matters!" The news is saying they "don't see how" Biden turns this around. lol. Really? Really? Don't see how? My ass.

How do YOU see Biden turning this around? He can't morph into a less senile person, nor change his record, so what's left? Cheating? Although NY may still try to jail Trump in September, what other than that do you think they have in their bag of tricks?

Biden's missteps and now getting Covid ... poke him with a fork I think he's done. Calling the defense secretary "the black man" lol.
I'm honestly amazed his own jackals turned on him and brought him down. I don't think people realize just how logistically complicated a new contender is right now. It's not Biden bringing down the Dem ticket, it's Dem policies and political attacks. And now them all turning on Biden isn't a good look. I don't see Biden turning it around anymore. They're exhausting him and making sure he can't. And finding a scapegoat for their loss in November. It's about damage control now not about winning the election.

You mean Vance? He probably would be bad, but he likely will be useful as the VP candidate. I guess you saw the light like Vance. The lying conman was really a good guy. Right. I don't keep up with Barr but I recall him as being critical of Donny after he left the administration. Worse than trying to overturn a valid election? I doubt it. If I disagreed with a candidate 90% of the time I wouldn't try to go around blaming the opposition for that. I will give Trump credit for consistency. He's the same old scam artist he's been for decades.

No info on Biden and Harris. I suppose I could read their autobiographies, but I'm not that masochistic. Obama did work a number of jobs as a teen, most famously at Baskin-Robbins. Yum. There's a funny clip of Scarborough from 2009 dissing Obama for never having a job at a profit-making company. Times have changed. Trying to convince Biden to get out is just practical politics. Democratic legislators know he can hurt their election prospects too. His policies are secondary to his age and mental capacities. Those are his his real problems.

I appreciated that he came to my home town during the primaries. Voted for him enthusiastically. My vote for him in 2012 was much more tepid and "sigh. Whatever." I just wish he hadn't sold us all out. It's not practical politics at all. The problems Democratic legislators are having are policy problems. Not "the president is old" problems. The problems Democratic legislators are having is it looks like they've been lying to the American people about Biden's mental state for the past 4 years. That doesn't change with a new candidate. The Democrats will still have the stain of having appeared to have lied to the American people about Biden's mental state for the past 4 years. The Democrats brand has been damaged, not by Biden .. but by the Democrats. Nobody helped do that damage more than Kamala who will have to try to spin that into a loyalty thing if she steps up. And the infighting they're doing now is doing even more damage by keeping that debate in the public eye. It's practically malpractice.
But I'm still of a mind that absolutely no up and coming politician with an eye towards a future in higher office is eager to step up and tar themselves with a loss to Trump. Kamala is aligning herself to a squareup with Vance. Not Trump.

It's not a good idea to put too much faith in any politician. Disappointment is likely to follow. Obama did what most presidents do. He made money from being president. Just about all of them earn big bucks for their memoirs. And there are other opportunities that come along. That's just the way it is. If you believe the polls Biden's big problem is that too many people think he is too old and too frail to serve as president, not disagreement with his policies. And Democratic Senators and Representatives fear that the down ticket will suffer too. I doubt anybody thinks Biden's age problems started four years ago. They are more recent. The Democratic brand has not been stained. Biden's brand has been. They should heed Uncle Joe Stalin's supposed advice-- no man, no problem. Kamala has been a loyal VP. None of this is her fault. Infighting now is better than having Biden as the nominee. She was aligning herself to debate Vance. That could very well change. And Trump's winning is not inevitable.

Yeah. It's not a good idea to put too much faith in any politician. Because the system we have prevents those politicians from accomplishing what the People want done. And part of that system is "doing what most presidents do. Making money." Why buck the system and lose money like Trump did amirite? That's just foolish.
Trump's winning isn't inevitable. Unless the Democrats continue to handicap themselves and draw blood with friendly fire. It's not as simple as just "Biden steps aside." There's an entire campaign to rebuild from scratch just a few months before the election. And again ... why would any up and coming politician want to destroy their candidacy by coming into the campaign at a huge disadvantage in fundraising and building a ground game? Democrats are making a Trump win inevitable by turning on the only guy who can carry them through. They have only Kamala Harris. Yeah he had a "secret plan" to get out of Vietnam and it only took four years. And not long after he resigned the roof fell in. No delusion, Nixon "demonized" himself with his Watergate cover-up and impeachment. His AG went to prison as did his chief of staff. Talk about weaponizing the law. Of course Dick wasn't going to back down until he did and resigned. Seeing the old sleazebag go down the drain. Most excellent. I wouldn't call him evil, just another scam artist. Well I was just playing to the idea that half of Americans hate leftists. I doubt it's that many. But there is a fairly large contingent of wingnuts about. Loony toons with a not too tight grip on reality, crazy conspiracy theorists, just plain clueless people, right wing nutjobs for short. Me no wingnut.

What's hilarious is the old GOP liberal media playbook is still trying to convince people that Trump's numerous lies are nothing to worry about. Unfortunately for them Trump's lies always outnumber by a large margin the lies told about him. The credibility destroyed was Donny's, not that he had very much of it to start. The good news for him is his supporters don't care that he is a champion scam artist and liar. Maybe it's even part of his appeal. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-election-2020/trump-lies-false-presidency-b1790285.html

Yeah, that's what prevents the pols from doing what they want. The system that they are part of. What the People want done. Which people? The ones who want one thing done or the ones who want the opposite done? That's why talking about what the People want is a little silly, as if they are a solid bloc with one opinion. The campaign is up and running already for Biden. It's not like the Dems have to change everything around to go with a new candidate. He also has a ground game. Is that going to disappear because he is replaced by another candidate. Doubt it. Another problem for Biden is that donors are waiting to see what is going to happen and donations are down. And Mike Johnson is thinking about suing the Democratic party if Biden is replaced. That shows me that Johnson thinks another candidate would do better against Trump and wants to keep Biden in. I doubt Johnson has the best interests of Democrats in mind. Right now it doesn't look like Biden can carry them through. He's behind in the polls in the battleground states. I don't see how Biden can improve those numbers with his problems. People can see what is right in front of their eyes. Bob Dole and Mitt Romney were charismatic. I doubt they would replace her with a white man. That would be political suicide. And she is running ahead of Biden in a matchup with Trump. Biden isn't the same guy who won in 2020. Why are so many top Democrats urging him to "pass the torch?" Because they know his chances of winning are diminishing by the week. They can give him a fond farewell at the convention and move on. How about a Harris/Obama ticket. Barack Obama. He can't run for president again but there's nothing to prevent him from running for VP. Of course this is not going to happen but it's one of the weird side notes to a very weird election year.
