When we consider the infrequency of success in our "nation building" endeavors, policing the world's trade routes is the only option, outside of resigning to traffic interruptions and all they entail. The owners of capital, big and small, very much prefer protected routes that ensure efficient trade. The rest of us like our stuff in stock and at the lowest price. |
