I'm happy you've gotten the treatment you need, Limey. Stay well. But I'm curious, what percentage of your income goes to taxes? The same old fear mongering about universal health care.
Let's look at how much our current health care system costs for all who are lucky enough to have health insurance. Most analysis I've seen shows that implementing universal health care in the USA would cost the average worker and employer no more than they currently fork over for private health insurance. And, probably less, with 100% coverage of ALL, and much better overall health outcomes for EVERYBODY.
So, no added cost, better health outcomes for all. What is your problem with that?
But Ladybug's question was what percentage of your taxes goes to healthcare? She didn't ask about added costs.

Because we value freedom above all else. We have a right to life, you do not. Your government can choose to not cover you at any time. Then what? Are you kidding?
Sadly no.. He's a Fox/OANN viewer.. He's just horribly .. and worse, willfully .. misinformed...

Fear mongering? Seriously? I asked a simple question, because I really don't know. Please don't try reading anything else into my post; it's simply not there. Thank you. The common objection to universal health care is that it will cost the average American a king's ransom in taxes. I find it hard to believe you've never heard that dodge. I was just trying to educate you about the REAL costs of universal health care, which are very likely to be LESS than our current piece-meal private health care for-profit system.
And yes, the cost argument, since it is fake, is fear-mongering. I guess you were not trying to make it, eh?
Why not leave it alone and let we citizens decide what we want for our health care? Let those who want universal (read govt) healthcare can have it. I don't want it, so why should I have to use it? What's happened to our nation's love of options? We have the choice of killing our babes in the womb. Why not have the choice of using the healthcare system that we want to use while we are alive?

I just had this today. Red hot German doctor; Covid19 protection; highest quality treatment; paid for by my taxes. Total cost to me, today, £0. Free parking. Yesterday I was in the same hospital for a severe mental health episode, caused (originally) by Army service. Again.... no cost to me at point of delivery. Employer not involved. No paperwork. No insurers. I go in, ask for help. Help. While waiting to be processed in A&E (ER) yesterday, a guy wheels in his grandad. Fell out of wheelchair. Head injury. Treatment provided. Forms to fill in? None. Name, date of birth, that's it. Why is your system so bureaucratic and expensive? Profit. And why has it not changed? Because those who gain profit from healthcare do not want it to change. And they lobby like crazy to maintain the status quo.
This has zero to do with quality of care. It's just greed.

Cor, blimey, where's your sense of adventure? Don't you like a challenge? All we need to do is completely transform the entire geo-economic and political system across the planet. 25 years is more than enough. I'll just finish this cup of tea, and we can get cracking. Please, save me a cuppa.

The point of healthcare is to provide diagnosis, treatment and advice. The UK system on the whole does a good job. I can choose my GP, from around 45 in my area. I can choose any of 4 hospitals. Services like physio, counselling and health advice are available from a pnel of providers. If I choose, I can go private, that is, pay a private (non-NHS) provider, either directly or through private or employer insurance. Health care in UK is as good as in the US and a great deal cheaper. Nobody is refused, nobody faces crippling bills.

Isn't it great that we each are happy with the healthcare system that we each enjoy? Really, limey, I love my options. When I had my accident and had to have 7 surgeries, I needed the trauma unit and care. My healthcare system did not have trauma unit, so I was sent to the hospital that did and spent 26 days there. It was paid as if it was part of my benefits, because it was since there was no doubt that that was what I needed. It worked well for me, the patient. Also worked well for the provider of that care. They got paid because I badly needed that care, so they provided it.
Let's both now enjoy good health for as long as possible!

I suspect that it isn't quite so groovy for others. The big, big advantage of a UK-esque system is that the full range of service is available to ever, all the time. No exception.

If I'm not mistaken, Mrs. Crepe has health care because she has government funded military spouse coverage.
What's up with that?

It's been several years, but at the time, healthcare in the UK was 38% of our cost. Plus, they cover everyone. At the time we had 30 or 40 million uninsured. Our healthcare cost more per person than any other country, but our care is nowhere near the top.

How'd that happen when I live in your head all day? I have more replies from you with my name in them just today then all the boards I'm on combined. My own one gayboy fan club. The guy is obsessed with me. Yet he'll lie and say that I follow him around when the proof is all there. Only a simpleton like him would lie in the face of posted proof.

He needs to run back to his safe space and have Admin tuck him in for his nap.

There we go..Abe,Abe Abe... Hey Ullie I'm not gay but appreciate the attention. Now make an ass of yourself again and tell everyone how I'm trolling you and following you when ALL my replies are TO you because you mention me. Don't worry puberty isn't far off for you. Or is it just your mind that simplistic. Just enjoy being the manboy we all dislike.

Is this disease possibly an after effect of scurvy? (Or maybe after affect. Who am I to judge?) I know that Britain is rife with scurvy, which IIRC, they came down with after the Armada raped what they passed off as "their women". . . such a long time ago.
