How is it that people do not understand what the president can and cannot do, and what powers fall to the states. How is it that idiots don't understand simple concepts like - leading by example. Like is going on now. They, you, all of you are following his lead on everything. "Ask not what ..." That’s silly. Why would anyone follow any president’s lead? Do what *YOU* want to do.

Thanks for proving William's point that idiots don't understand the concept of leading by example.

William quoted JFK. So we should follow JFK’s lead and let bullets bust our heads open like splattered watermelons?

Again, apologies if this is already being discussed, but I am interested in how this group would get our country back up and running again. We are definitely in a pandemic, and sheltering in place is the best remedy for this. It was the same advice given in 1918 (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-resources/1918-pandemic-h1n1.html) We have racial tension, we have political tension, and our economy, in terms of unemployment and personal incomes, is starting to look like the great depression. So what do we do? If we allow everyone to go about their business, the 125,000 deaths could escalate to millions, yet if we keep everyone at home, we'll all kill our spouses and children, and no one will make a living. We can't just keep giving everyone a check every month, or maybe we can, I'm not really savvy when it comes to that sort of thing. So what I am asking this group is for actual suggestions on how we can move forward. My one suggestion is to have a leader who is listened to, and believed, by all the country. I don't know who that is, but I do know that Trump is not that guy. Freon Sheltering in place is not the best remedy. A massive percentage of the population does not have the ability to grow their own food and barter for supplies. It is not 1918. It is not the middle ages. Our modern society relies almost exclusively on the ability of people to trade their labor for a currency that can be used to buy food, shelter, goods, and services. Shutting that down means people starve and go homeless. And when people start starving there becomes havoc. Poverty causes more problems than this disease does and that's what you don't understand. The solution is to open everything back up. Promote voluntary measures such as social distancing, proper hygiene, and mask wearing. Be honest. They fucked up and thought this thing was way more dangerous than it is. It definitely was not dangerous enough to crash crash the economy and throw millions of people into poverty. Own up to it. Only the bots are buying the well "the models were only 150% off and merely being adjusted" or "masks don't work and now they do". Only tards are buying into that shit anymore. Stop. Cut the red tape at the hospitals. There are a lot of resources lingering doing jack shit right now, reallocate where needed. Nursing homes need to be looked at. There is a reason they always smell like rot and death.

The point of this thread is to look for actual solutions, not restatements of the problem. At this point, the only "actual solution" is a vaccine, which we currently don't have and some people are also not going to get, because we have blown past any best practice models through government ineptitude (federal, state and local), irresponsible/selfish behavior, and dumb partisanship.

Lomelis, you consider this whole thing a hoax, which means your suggestion would unnecessarily put millions in this country at risk of infection. That does not sound like an intelligent or practical strategy to me. Freon

Freon I think he has. Many times. Let those who feel they are at risk stay home. Let those who do not feel they are at risk continue to work to fund the economy. Pretty simple.

That makes absolutely no sense. I suggest trying again using a bit of logic this time. I'm not going to tit for tat with you. If you have a real solution, feel free to post it for discussion. Freon I provided reasonable suggestions that address the reality of the situation. You said this: "Lomelis, you consider this whole thing a hoax, which means your suggestion would unnecessarily put millions in this country at risk of infection. " Considering this a hoax does not mean the suggestions I presented would put people at risk. They are literally completely unrelated. Your sentence makes no logical sense. If I had suggested that people wear hazmat suits in public that suggestion would literally be the best option to protect everyone that goes out in public, the person wearing the suit as well as others. Obviously it isn't realistic. You wanted suggestions, I provided them. You simply are unwilling to even consider them because you've been programmed. You don't want to be challenged on your bullshit. Just run a long and continue being a good little Igor.
