You know it's actually Rick that came up with this nickname for broman aka Q aka Queshank (if I spelled that right). He couldn't stand him and actually called him that to his face (in a manner of speaking ) a few times. Q would get frustrated that people weren't paying enough attention to his self and quite dramatically declare that he would delete his account but not before starting a thread to "talk about it". Of course he would get many a "Shane, come back!" moments in said thread, at least in the beginning. He would then a few weeks later come back also dramatically and also by starting a thread where people would tell him how much they missed him. After five or six occurrences of this, even his most stalwart aficionados would barely acknowledge his gone-brought back act. He'd even get some remarks like "Oh watch Q's quitting, it's that time of the month!" so he stopped. What I promise, I deliver. There's more of course, much more... be patient. lol. Ahh, now you have me waxing nostalgic.
Rick was one of my closest friends. Not just here on the boards but off them. My daughter has his drawing of a horse hanging on the wall in her apartment. It was he who convinced me to return to help my family's business when I didn't want to. "Treat it like a 4 year military enlistment Jeff. Your wife finishes college and off you go." he would say.
After I moved and before I really got mired in the muck, he and I spent nearly a year planning and discussing a computer game centered around the idea of a central "forum" not unlike LNF where participants would be represented as an avatar in a Roman style forum and venture out into the wilderness to increase their prestige and contributions to the forum. I started to get buried under the responsibility of running the family business and my mother's health issues and put it aside.
I regret immensely that the last time we spent time together digging through offmain music stores in downtown Denver for a pedal I wanted I cut our visit short. I was in a hurry on my way to New Mexico to pick up my psychopath older sister whose car had broken down and my anger at my sister had me shorter with him than I liked in retrospect. He died not long after. I never got to tell him how that 4 year military enlistment turned out. What a disaster it was. But who could have predicted the family matriarch going all mad King Targaryen, amirite? I sure don't blame Rick for it.
And he was also well aware that I routinely deleted my account after 2000 posts in response to his archnemesis weaselteeth's insistence that new posters shouldn't even be allowed to post until they had 2000 posts. I made sure I never had over 2000 posts for the rest of the time weaselteeth (later quiller) was on the boards. Despite WT also being a good friend I regularly kept in touch with off the boards and even had dinner with one night.
We only had one real disagreement that wasn't us playing games and talking together off the boards about what we'd say next. It was on the idea of suicide. My argument is suicide is for cowards. His argument was that Japanese kamikazes weren't cowards. We disagreed pretty vehemently until we dropped it.
But please. Continue with the meltdown. I'm fucking loving this.
You're lying of course. Rick couldn't stand you. He thought you were the biggest phony to ever register on LNF. As for WT if you knew anything about Rick you would have known that he somehow managed to get Rick's work address and that he tried to get him fired. And yet that major event that Rick was kinda fixated on, you never thought to mention, hey? Of course, since you are a fucking liar, that's quite understandable that you wouldn't know that. So it's quite ironic you lying fuck when you also say that you were friends with WT that Rick said he would beat to a pulp if he could ever get his hands on him and knowing that about you he would also add you to the list. Rick who was rather tall 6'2 (I am 6'3) if memory serves once met WT (before the attempt or WT would have regretted it) through Lin (Rick's girlfriend you dumbfuck) and he said that he was very short and fat, tubby in a word, and so he most likely had a napoleon complex, he was meaner than the proverbial junkyard dog, IOW a vile piece of crap, a perfect friend for you, asshole. So to anyone who knew Rick, and therefore had heard about the work place incident, it's pretty obvious that you are lying. As for Rick, he's been attacked vilely by your kind like you never did with me. That's not for nothing that Rick had been banned more that 150 times!! With a different screen name each time of course, and many times we both had been mistaken for one another, not for long because I don't have his talent and so couldn't write the very long and detailed posts that Rick was famous for. Those were dead give away, as soon as Rick started with these people knew who he was. So he waited for some time before doing it. That's during that period that he and I could be mistaken for one another, because we could stand the sycophants, such as you and WT for two. Yeah. 2000 posts. It was strange of the conservatives to want that. Especially in light of the fact that I saw them all as newcomers, WT and Rick included. But there were a lot of things being floated at the time. "No new threads until 2000 posts." "No posts for 30 days after creating an account" etc.
It led to the creation of a private club for regular posters that I refused to join that newcomers to the boards couldn't access. I referenced it not long ago when some of the posters here were discussing a private board. Gives me the creeps. I remember mocking Rabbit for joining it.
You should be proud. You and your ilk's tendency to make several troll accounts and start threads like these are the reason for that movement on the boards so long ago. When you shuffle off the mortal coil having accomplished nothing else in life, on your deathbed you can cling close to the fact that you drove a couple dozen right wingers to create an entirely new forum just to get away from your stupid. I remember driving with Rick and Lin to have dinner one night in about August of 2009. The moon was orange and tremendously large. I had never seen the moon like that before. We joked a lot about it being because we were in the mile high city and the moon was so much closer. But it might have been because we were high as fuck. Rick and Lin had this adorable game they played. We all learned about "Slug bugs" when you saw a volkswagen beetle with your siblings right? (or dad.) And then you'd get a punch "Slug bug no returns!" Rick had a different game. "Rub bug." When he saw a volkswagen bug he'd give Lin a hug or rub her arm. My wife and I still do that to this day. We were on our way to Seattle for a partnership summit with Thomson Reuters, and had detoured south through Denver, way out of our way, just to visit my good friend Rick. After dinner and an evening at Lin's place, we drove back to our hotel. Modest Mouse was playing at a small venue right across the street from our hotel. I noticed it because the parking in our hotel parking lot was so bad. It was overflowing. It was like some mechanical labyrinth out of a dystopian novel. So I wound up going past the venue at least 15 times driving around looking for a place to park.
It was one of the worst experiences of my life. I had PTSD for days afterwards. It took 2 hours to find a parking spot so we could just go to bed. I resolved then and there to never get high driving around downtown Denver again. I have of course broken that vow many times since. What can I say? I just make sure to never rent a hotel across from where Modest Mouse is playing.
