SourceThere is a nation in the region who has a history of assassinating nuclear scientists: Israel.

The purpose of this attack is definitely to disrupt any attempt at diplomacy or rejoining the JCPOA, and to the extent that it empowers hardliners in Iran - see post 149 - it will be successful. It certainly won't prevent Iran's development of nuclear weapons, as past assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists should make clear. A legitimate question is how much did the administration know and did it coordinate with Israel, especially in light of the mystery meeting in Neom last week that the Saudis denied.

SourceSeems like we're counting on Iran exercising a lot of restraint.

Demos, do you believe Israel is responsible? Or is it us, or a combination of the two?

Demos, do you believe Israel is responsible? Or is it us, or a combination of the two? For the assassination? Israel is really the only state in the region who has both the history and the operational capacity to pull that off. As for us, the question is what did we know and did we sign off on it.

For this, we can thank Pompeo, Abrams, the Iran hawks in Congress, FDD, AIPAC, Netanyahu, and President Trump for going along with them.

Jim Jeffrey admitting what everyone already knew... SourceIn other words, Syria was never really about ISIS, it was about Iran. That's why we're still there. This quote is a beauty: "And of course, we’ve ratcheted up the isolation and sanctions pressure on Assad, we’ve held the line on no reconstruction assistance, and the country’s desperate for it. You see what’s happened to the Syrian pound, you see what’s happened to the entire economy. So, it’s been a very effective strategy." So the sanctions have been an effective strategy because you've collapsed the Syrian pound and ruined the economy. There hasn't been any change in Assad's behavior and no sign that his regime is about to collapse, but it's an effective strategy. He also repeats throughout this interview that the PKK is an existential threat to Turkey. C'mon man.

SourceHuh, that's odd, since we were all told deterrence was restored after taking out Soleimani.

SourceFrom the quotes in the story, Rouhani seems to be rejecting tying the missile program to any effort to rejoin the JCPOA, rather than a blanket rejection of any negotiations on this issue, but maybe he is.

Biden will no doubt return to that miserable Iran-Nuke deal. That was the worst deal ever made. What did we get out of it? The sanctions were working just fine before Obama-Biden removed them. So the deal was this: We U.S taxpayers have to pay Iran a jizyah tax of a sum of $150-billion+ dollars. In the meantime, Iran continues to chant "Death to America!" and promises to nuke the U.S and all its allies. So we are paying Iran to nuke us! Is it just me or is that deal really fucking insulting to human intelligence?!! Biden will strengthen China and every jihadist in the world. We are a divided nation that will soon be incapable of defending itself. Trust me, this will not end well. Trump brought peace in the middle east and strong sanctions on Iran. But under Biden we will see a world war. Nothing about the Biden regime will end well. Its nothing but insanity on steroids!
