Freon had a good idea, so let's explore the other possibility.
If Trump wins, what does the Democratic party look like moving forward?
I would contend that the Democratic party will continue to move toward the left. Their newest members would be move the party platform to social media, depart from any semblance of moderation and make a full throated run at socialism.

If all this effort and momentum fail the dems, they will be forced to re-evaluate their stance.
They're goal is to win, so the logical strategy change would be to appeal to those who currently side with the extremism of Trump. The question they will have to ask themselves is whether it is better to retain the left of center identity, or to move right of center to obtain power.
I have actually said this myself many times in this forum. If Trump wins, I will acknowledge that Trumpism is a movement, and not an accidental perfect storm. I will try to work with them.

I always wondered how it was that Jews worked for the Nazis in the concentration camps. It must have started with just one seemingly small forced step on a deceptively slippery slope.

Being Jewish, that is quite the insult, because it sounds like you are implying that a lot of jews did it, which would not be true.
And within my culture, those who did, were extremely looked down upon. They chose self-preservation and betrayal.
The modern version of those scum are the jews that Trump surrounds himself with. Miller, Kushner, Mnuchin. These are not 'real' jews to me (Ivanka isn't jewish at ALL to me). They are the fringe fanatics that any culture must tolerate. Freon

No. Dems always double down on losing. Look at their policies!

No. Dems always double down on losing. Look at their policies! From what I'm reading, the Dems policies are widely popular.
Your comment sounds like it is coming from a place where you think conservatism is the majority perspective in the US. I don't think it is. Freon

You mean like welfare that even the Democratic party doesn't tout any more? Or how about Affirmative Action? Is anyone still proud of that?

You are cherry-picking ancient policies, instead of talking about the policies of now. We can go back in time, and find policies we don't agree with from BOTH parties.
Universal Healthcare, for instance, RIGHT NOW, is widely popular.

If Trump wins the left would double down, no doubt. What choice would we have? If he does indeed win, I expect the Dems would retake the Senate and maintain or grow the House membership in '22. It'd be another ugly four years with the first twice impeached President! LOL!!

What policies? Do you mean the policy of vilifying normal people and deifying thugs? Or the one defending rioting and looting? Any sane person who looks at how stupidly and caustically Pelosi runs the House, and how poorly Democratic run cities and states are being managed will vote for Trump. The moronic gun control proposals alone should send decent folks toward Trump in droves. Normal folks see left wing terrorists rampaging in our cities, with the Democrats backing them all the way and cancelling anyone who speaks against their evil.
I wonder if those refugees are smart enough to realize that they are leaving because of their own liberal policies that have turned their big cities into cesspools.

Who said you get to define what decent and normal are?
To the majority of us, it is YOU that is not decent or normal.

Freon Common sense says otherwise. Do you actually consider the thugs terrorizing our cities to be the normal ones? Do you actually consider the Nazi style intolerance of speech by the left's cancel culture as normal?
Sick and perverted are better descriptors of such things, but certainly not normal.

Paleo, instead of looking at this conversation in terms of your opinion or mine, let's look at it quantitatively.
You say there are thugs terrorizing our cities. How many? Are you saying that there are enough to call the entire liberal perspective thugs? I would have to disagree with you strongly on that.
Next, you claim 'cancel culture' is some type of massive problem. How massive? What have you actually had to give up? Racism? Disrespect? Intolerance? Sorry, but those are GOOD things to give up.
All I am saying is that there are more liberals in this country than conservatives. If they all voted, we would be even more liberal, therefore, calling your perspectives 'normal' is NOT a quantitative fact. Freon

Cancel culture is normal. It always has been. Don't believe me? Just ask the Dixie Chicks. Or Judas Priest. Or Richard and Mildred Loving.
