Hello boys and girls,
Thought experiment for the day is simple.
What will happen to the republican party if Trump loses.
Will it stay the exact same?
Will there be a fight for leadership? What chance do the Trumpers have of remaining in power?
Will it split into Trumpers and Republicans?
This could very well play out, so I'm curious what the group thinks.
I think that if he loses, anyone who supported him will have a taint that will destroy their career. I think it is possible, maybe even likely, that a split will occur.

It's either going to be close, or those people who voted for Trump, but were afraid to tell anyone about it, will flip and vote Biden.
Then it would be a landslide. It wouldn't surprise me if even in this forum, there were flippers. I see no fervor behind Trump anymore, even from his base.

The Republican party is fractured, wondering if there is a resounding defeat, lose the Whitehouse and Senate who's going to carry the mantle.
Will the sane pubs reclaim it or is the name so soiled they don't want it?
Where will the Trumpaloons and Qanon types go?

I don't know if there is a defined personality to the party right now. You have two factions, those that are opposed to Trump's personality and those that look past the personality to the policies. I can say that the people like the more confrontational politicians now and I would expect that those types of politicians would be more likely to win primaries in the future. They may not be as confrontational as Trump, but I would expect that the Republican party would be unlikely to continue as the passive, intellectual party in the future. |

The only thing to focus on now is to defeat Donald Trump, flip the Senate to Dem, and hold onto the House.

This is the most important election of all time. No one questions that. And yet the Democrats chose loser boy Joe Biden as their candidate. What does that say about the Democrat Party? Tactically, I think Biden is a safe choice for the Dems. Kamala locks in the women and blacks.
If the dems ignored the immigration platform that Trump ran on, the repubs are now ignoring the social injustice platform the dems are running on.
