Those lies were fast as lightning....
Kellyanne Conway, who once said the term 'kung flu' was offensive, now says Trump can use the racial slur because Americans must blame China
Kellyanne Conway has effectively U-turned on her criticism that the term "kung flu" is offensive by defending President Donald Trump's use of it while seeking to cast blame on China for the coronavirus pandemic.
On March 18, the counselor to the president had told the CBS reporter Weijia Jiang that the term "kung flu" was "highly offensive" after Jiang tweeted that a White House official, who she did not name, used the term to describe the novel coronavirus in her presence.
Conway at the time said the term was "hurtful" and noted her husband's Filipino ancestry. But at a press conference Wednesday, Conway defended Trump's use of the term, which was met with loud cheers at rallies both Saturday and on Tuesday.

In fact it was a little bit frightening.. Lies came with expert timing...

Kellyanne must be vying for her old job again, since the current campaign manager may be on the outs.

I suppose one could argue whether or not using the term makes Trump sound like a racist. What is, I think, unarguable is that it makes him sound like a child.

That's the tactic I think the Biden campaign should take in their criticism of Trump. I wouldn't play up the racism angle. I'd play up the incompetent child angle.

No need to let Drumpf off the hook so easily.
Both "angles" can be played up.
He's both an incompetent child and a damn racist.
People need to know these things about him.

I agree but I think the people who are going to be convinced by that already are. I would dog whistle his racism without directly calling him racist. I would do it coyly using coded language, just the way he does.

I'm approaching this from a purely political strategy. Calling him a racist will not garner one more vote, and it might turn away undecides who feel the left has overused that attack in the past (accusing Bush of wanting the black people in New Orleans to die, for example). Not to mention it might help galvanize his base, both those who don't consider themselves racist but feel they have been unfairly tarred with that label at one time or another, and those who do consider themselves racist and think it's a badge of honor. But calling him a child, well, that's hard for anyone to deny, while hardly being something that would excite his base.

Yes, yours would be the political approach.
But perhaps the electorate is sick and tired of politics as usual.

I'm not sure politics "as usual" even has a meaning anymore. Honestly, I enjoy debating political strategy, but full disclosure, I'm probably only 50-75% tops committed to any strategy* I suggest at any given time. Sometimes I'll double down if I think someone did something absolutely boneheaded (baskets of deplorables / Rubio's "Obama knows exactly what he's doing" flameout) but the rest of the time I'm just enjoying the conversation. *Strategy, not issues. I take issues seriously. Strategy is like discussing a football game though.

And now, President Dotard Dump has slashed funding for a coronavirus research project:

Seems like Biden is taking the 3rd choice. Letting Trump hang himself. Trump acting like a man-child was somewhat cute when things were going relatively well in the country but there does come a point when you actually step up and be a stern leader when the economy is in the dumps, people are rioting, and hundreds of thousands of new cases of a harmful virus continue to run rampant throughout the country every week.

That's one of the things that worries me most about Trump: his tendency to overcompensate for his childish nature and become a "stern leader" like you say. I could see him calling on the military to do mass incarcerations and other "stern" things to try to "dominate" anyone he sees as his opposition. It would be a disaster, and we don't need another disaster right now. A better plan would be to coddle and reassure the big baby and then vote his ass out of office once and for all in November.

A lot of his top military brass, past and present, seem to be ranging from uncomfortable to having outright disdain for him so such actions may just result in him getting Mussolini'd.

But the Obama admin wasn't blaming China for the flu.
Trump is, repeatedly.
And quite falsely.

I disagree. China knew that the virus was spreading person to person as did the WHO, but they kept it on the DL while they stopped travel out of a Wuhan to the rest of China but allowed flights out of Wuhan to the rest of the world all while buying up the worlds supply of PPE.
