Another spectacular success of Trump's tariffs.

The trade war was something of a psychological war, with the US making demands of China to end the war, and China resisting those demands, and the patience and morale of the people of the two countries determining which side would break first. Insofar as the media and others undermined Americans' morale for the war, they were assisting China to win the war and resist US demands. What kind of person would do that? I would agree with your assessment if at any time Trump asked us to just bear the burden, but he never did. He made this move unilaterally, with no plan, no request of the people, and no idea of the consequences. He basically was/is hoping it will work, and so far, I do not see us gaining anything. I see us paying more for stuff, but I do not see any jobs being created around manufacturing. I see farmers unable to sell their crops, but I do not see China bending at all.
If you choose to believe otherwise, then you are basing that belief on zero evidence. Prove me wrong.

Coincidence: My Grandfather and my uncles worked at Allegheny Steel back in the 1890's through the 30's. I still have a place setting of vintage stainless flatware made by Allegheny.
