I've voted every in every election. But with all of the controversy surrounding voting, is there a check process - ie. I cast a vote...can I confirm that it was cast, and is there a record of who I voted for.
Pretty much everything thing else in life there is a check to validate what happened. In business accounting, on your credit card, bank statement etc.
I've never questioned it, or asked if there is a place to confirm my vote was cast and counted...but its a fair question.
I grew up in a relatively small town in RI, and even here in maine, every year there are at least two stories of a local (within a few towns) postal employee not delivering the mail...usually finding it in his backyard buried or thrown in the water in some pond..

I assume you're talking about voting by mail. We just did that for a primary vote in our local election. There was no validation of anything, including if I was really me, except mr crepe signing that I was me and I signed that he was him. Never had to show any i.d. to a poll person because there weren't any in our house. mr crepe then went to the Post Office and gave it to the postal worker who put it in a special thingee, and that was that.
Did our votes ever even leave the Post Office? Don't know. Were they ever counted? Don't know that, either. all I do know is that the two people who were selected for a runoff were both democrats (and I live in a republican suburb).
If we get the chance, mr crepe and I will vote at the polling place in town where no other person touches our vote; it's all done by the voting machine. IF we get that option.

crepe - I suppose that's what I'm talking about...I've never had to show an ID, or anything...I just say my name, and they hand me my ballot...I complete it, turn it in...
But I don't actually know that it was counted...I'm not aware of a website or return confirmation process...
It seems a check should be obvious...maybe one exists...I'm simply not aware of it...

You need to tell that to Phillip and Company... And when you brought it to the P.. was it marked with a D or R as noted in the other thread? Easy could have been tossed.... aisde from it being an invasion of privacy. I have no idea if there was an R or a D on the envelope. I just asked mr crepe who took them to the P.O. and he said that there were no such markings. However, the only two people in the run-off were D's so nothing like that was needed.

I'm in Cali, and we definitely have a confirmation process. I can go online, determine where my ballot is, and whether it has been counted. I do not believe it indicates who I voted for, however. That would make the process public, when it should be private.
