How typically ignorant, as proven by the first posts in the thread (FYI, we're 15th in "Freedom "). So how many first world foreigners are clamoring to come here? No, my statement is perfectly valid. The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl. They are considered the No. 1 team. Are they the top-rated offense? No. Are they the top-rated defense? No. They’re just No. 1 overall. Just like America. Perhaps one of the more inane analogies of all time.

After 8 years of obummer leading from behind (most people call that following) he had just about destroyed our manufacturing industry, not allowed the military to have much needed new equipment that they had been requesting, we were headed to only having health care provided by the govt and no private health care, and his lack of support for the police has brought us to the blacks murdering blacks at will, making it almost seem like a Saturday night sport. Despicable attitude by blacks who obviously don't believe that black lives matter. Scratch Creep long enough and her racism comes out in all its glory. Bless her heart. I wonder if she is in this pic: She's the hot one at the front.

Let's call the spade a spade. This thread was created by cadescove because cades wanted the opportunity to trash the United States of America. In cades's world, it is woke to view the USA as a problem in the world. But cades's world view is clouded by a lack of understanding of what the USA has accomplished.
Let's start with the creation. While the United States borrowed some principles from Greece, Rome and a few other historic governments, the United States was unique in that the government was controlled by the people rather than the people controlled by the government. Despite some attempts at democracy in ancient governments, this was the first time a government became accountable to the people it governed. In so doing, the US government was the exception to the rule and was later dubbed "American exceptionalism" to denote it's unique derision of power.
Because the United States was founded on the principle of freedoms and rights being inherent to the people and not awarded by the government, the United States and its unique blend of regulation by the people and libertarian style of governance allowed early Americans to lead the world in innovation from aviation to medicine to manufacturing. The end result was a nation that in well under 200 years went from a band of farmers and outcasts to the most powerful nation in the history of mankind. When the world found itself in turmoil, not once but twice, it was the wealth of the United States and the generous, selfless and brave people that tipped the scales of power.
In the process, the United States has changed the way all people view government. Gone are the days where a privileged few can have power and the rest are destined to be servants of a dictator or government. Today, people all over the world expect to have rights. They expect their government to work in their best interest. They expect their government to be fair. Those are all aspects of the US government that were once exceptions to the rule and today are the rule. So while cades looks for all the mistakes that happened along the way, cades misses all the good that has come, all the lives that have been saved and all the expectations that have changed. Unequivocally, the United States of America has left a footprint on this world that has forever improved the lives of all of humanity. In that, the United States of America is the greatest country on the planet...past, present and future.

Just what history is taught inaccurately? Meaningful history is necessarily subjective to an extent. Objective history is simply a catalogue of dates and events. Little is informative in that. Like if your gran told you "your Aunt Marge and Uncle Jim married on 3rd August 1940".well... great. The useful and interesting detail is coloured by interpretation "Jim was in the Infantry and going to Africa, her sisters think she had a baby scare & insisted on a wedding in case she was on her own with a war baby". True? Maybe. A much richer light on the mores, norms and fears of lower middle class 1940 English 20somethings there, though, eh? Lucy Worsley is a historian whose latest BBC series is this: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00024k8... she's enormously entertaining and if things don't work out with the current Mrs. Limey, she is next on my list, so if you watch it be nice. The premise of the series is that history can be a form, or version, of truth without necessarily being entirely accurate. It's good, educational stuff both in its content and in its points about what history is. She looks great in a 1850s Southern Belle dress too.
I'm a Linda Worsley fan also.
Not so much her looks, but the way she hints at W's with her R's...

Really? Isn't that like saying the Murderer's Row Yankees are todays best team?

Can you not love America, but still see it needs improvement? Are you saying that to love America is to only see its positives and ignore its negatives? Can you not see that we are on a journey to ever higher greatness?
I love this country, and would put my life down for it, but I have values, AMERICAN values, and we are not living up to our potential. When we criticize, we are saying that we can do more, be more, grow more.
Your argument sounds like you are saying we are fine the way we are because our ancestors did some amazing things. What have YOU done? What sacrifices have YOU made that are uncommon to any other country?

To Derpers like ksu, paleo and the others, America has been going downhill for a while.....when all those 'uppity' folks started demanding their rights as citizens. That is what 'MAGA' means to them - great like back in the 1950s (and before), when blacks, browns, women and poors knew their places, and people like them ran the show.

“We love America just as much as they do. But in a different way.
You see, they love America like a 4-year-old loves his mommy. Liberals love America like grown-ups.
To a 4-year-old, everything Mommy does is wonderful and anyone who criticizes Mommy is bad.
Grown-up love means actually understanding what you love, taking the good with the bad and helping your loved one grow.”

Here's your alleged "adult"
And comedian turned #MeToo ousted Senator Franken got it completely backwards. Liberals are like spoiled teenagers, proudly stupid while claiming to know all of the answers. Like teenagers, the brains of liberals have not reached maturity, but their drive an defiance makes up for their lack of intelligence and common sense. Conservatives are the adults, whose life experience and critical thinking have brought the wisdom that reveals to them how ignorant those teenagers are.

Wait, Abe and Stu are critical thinkers? Bwahahahahahaha.
Seriously man, you need to understand who's on your side in this.
I don't think 'life experience and critical thinking' are superior to massive education AND life experience AND critical thinking.
Statistically, if you support Trump, you are white, male, and uneducated. You are part of the lowest income bracket in the country. You're not the superstars. You're not the achievers. You're not the inventors. You're the ones the soda pop companies are targeting in their ads.
What could possibly make you believe that YOU are the wisest people in this country? Freon

Typical lefty. If you can't beat them intellectually, attack them emotionally and denigrate their intelligence. After all, if you can dehumanize the other side then it is easier to excuse your side's missteps because it is all for the greater good. This is the tactic that was laid out by Marx, reiterated by Solinsky and employed for decades by the left. Force the troglodytes to conform because it is in their best interest, even if they don't know it.
