How certain things started?
Like the first man who looked at a (wild) horse and saw it as a possible means of transport... I mean it was far from obvious, to begin the horses are far from cooperative when someone try to ride them for the first time or second or (sometimes) the hundredth, then they had (likely) no equipment of any sorts no saddles, no stirrups, no spurs... No experience whatsoever... It must have taken generations of people trying before one could say that he succeeded in making that practical.
Or the first man who coughing and nearly suffocating because of an overly smoky fire that said to himself, I am gonna breathe that smoke on purpose! That one is really baffling.
Well, there are some things that are easier to understand, like the first man who looked at the cheese he had put aside for his lunch "ruined" by mold, who ate it anyway because he was so hungry...
