BBC docudrama, really good. Wow a six hour documentary! Tell you what, I will watch it but it'd better be good or else...

It's exceptional... the sources quoted are a very accurately represented, at least, the ones I've read and was looking out for. I guess if you're a good actor with no major TV or film credit, these sort of re-creation things are an opportunity to just craft excellent work. The guy playing Stalin and the one as Beria work well, but it's the scripts- mostly verbatim from witnesses or notes- and the narration that swing it.

Sounds great!
Chances are I recorded this to DVD (or VHS) back in 2008. I'll have to check my libraries.

Lucky you. I don't record anything. I don't watch enough tv to make it worthwhile.

I record a lot of stuff from broadcast TV to DVD. Mostly commercial-free documentaries and movies from the local PBS station. And then some movies, mostly film noir, as broadcast on a local commerical channel. The nice part of that is it's relatively easy to fast-forward through the commercials via DVD. Some doubters over on BRD maintain DVD is "old school", and they keep pushing ROKU and similar, but the DVD route works for me just fine.
