Are any of you interested in the Doctor Who series (old or new)?
Before I post anything of interest about the subject I need to know that I am talking to someone (and not to ghosts).
Limey? How about you?

I dimly remember Dr. Who being on a local PBS station here. Can't remember every watching it, though. What's it about?

I've seen many of the first years.. probably all of the Tom Watsons.. sporadically after that and then every episode since the 2005 reboot.
I particularly like those written by Russell T Davies or Steven Moffat ..
I haven't seen much of the Thirteenth Doctor .. We'll probably binge it this vacation.
David Tennant was born to the the Doctor ..

I don't think Patrick Troughton got a fair shake because of some BBC's idiotic policy, most of his episodes (especially the great ones) have been destroyed and all we have left (for these episodes) are his voice acting and a few still pictures... You probably know that BBC destroyed 97 episodes of the first six seasons... That seems so stupid given how expensive these episodes were to make. It didn't occur to these shortsighted morons that future generations might like to enjoy them...

Well yes, I like sci-fi, but none of those actor's names rings a bell for me.
Aside from American popular shows like Star Trek, or movies like Star Wars, I mostly read the classics, such as by HP Lovecraft, Jules Verne, HG Wells, Arthur Conan Doyle, etc. At least those are the names listed on the back of the anthology i keep in the, uh, throne room. The few times I watched Dr. Who it just seemed too hokey to me. Not that Star Trek wasn't.

Well, that's the thing with entertainment, you either like it or you don't. The same can be said about art and literature. For what you've told me I would deduce that you consider sci. fi in it's literary form as some sort of mental laxative or a wait to pass the time during your bowel movement. That doesn't bode well for your liking of movies or shows.

Dr. Who is a little hokey, but that's part of the appeal.

Oh, I think you got it wrong, Sir. You see, I have royal blood (narrow ankles) and my throne room has a real throne from which I issue commands to my minions.
As for movies and shows, I very much enjoy them, so you are wrong there. Perhaps if you could direct me to a website where I can view past episodes of Dr. Who, preferably free of charge, I'd be happy to view them from my perch.

If I knew of a site where you can see series I like free of charge I'd be the happiest man on Earth (instead of the second happiest). I've heard of pirate sites that provide such things but you go there at your own peril.

Oh, but it got WORSE. We took a trip to London, then piggy backed that onto a trip to Wales to tour the BBC studios and Dr Who museum (which has multiple Tardis sets within) and a tour of the locations for different episodes where Dr Who was filmed. He saw the "Cat Hospital" and a diner used in a couple of episodes. Real neat. Now that he's 17, he no longer has any interest in the Dr Who world. Shame....

Well, to my memory, I didn't much like Dr. Who when it was airing here in the USA on broadcast TV, so I doubt I will enjoy it much today. So I probably won't bother with it.
