Ah, Old Yeller. That was a popular movie when I was very young. I remember my older siblings raving about it.
But it's not the movie I'm thinking about here.
PS-Some years ago I worked for a small family owned company. One of the employees used to refer to the father of the family as, "Old Yeller", LOL.

On his way to the Wildcat office, the town drunk is congratulated by a number of citizens for his reported opposition to the banker. He decides not to horsewhip the Wildcat editor, but instead run against the banker for the office of head of the school board, as reported in the paper.
