No, I didn't know that, but I learned that Red Vines was invented at some point and called licorice although it's really just a kind of a gummy candy. I happen to like Red Vines, though. I like black licorice too.
It's good that Chaplin hated licorice because eating shoe leather should not be a pleasurable experience.
