So I’ve been on the lookout for a garden tiller. The new stuff is mostly garbage. A neighbor was getting rid of a 1960 Montgomery ward tiller with an engine that was shot. So I took a 1957 tecumseh engine off my grandfathers old snowblower that has not been used in 25 years. He died in 1969. Rebuilt the carb, fixed the ignition coil and a few other basic fixes. Also was able to use the clutch off the snowblower for the tiller. Not shown here - Replaced the rusted out muffler with a gray electrical box with some holes and a household sponge. Looks like Frankenstein but works great. I tilled what will be a garden this spring in a 100 x 50 spot out back. Already planted garlic. I find that terribly impressive. I don't have those kinds of skills...the garden skills or the engine rebuilding skills.

definitely impressive. I lack those skills, too. but my son doesn't. he's done similar stuff and has a few old vehicles he works on at times. a 46 Ford, 52 GMC 1 ton, 68 Malibu, coupla 80's trucks.

Yeah, I've done a couple of car engine rebuilds in my garage. That plus all the other usual stuff: brakes, cooling system, wheel bearings, drive shaft, transmission. You name it. Even repainted a truck in my carport (catalyzed urethane).
We rarely get snow here, and never enough to warrant blowing it around. I do rely on a reverse action roto-tiller about once a year. That thing rocks.
