Trump promised to bring back the US manufacturing sector.
However his tax policies have done the opposite. Basically he's dramatically lowered taxes on corporate profits, while maintaining or increasing payroll taxes. The net effect has been to reward companies with small workforces, such as the financial sector, while punished companies with large workforces. The business community has responded by outsourcing labor intensive operations to foreign nations. Trump confuses the situation by waging an aggressive war of words on nations like China, who are doing an increasing share of our manufacturing. While Trump didn't start the trend to punishing companies that hire American workers, he's done basically nothing to fix it.

If the goal is to restore American manufacturing and reduce unemployment the solution is fairly obvious: Raise taxes on corporate profits and reduce payroll taxes. Coupled with enacting single payer health care, this would effect real improvements instead of empty rhetoric.
Which means as long as Trump is president it will only get worse.

INSTEAD of on the CORONA VIRUS!
Single payer health care is nothing but a SOCIALIST STYLED LOSER, and MOST Americans KNOW it, too!

Unlike LNF cons, US manufacturers are not stupid.
If it costs them less in terms of taxes to outsource production to China and elsewhere, that's what they will do and have done, and will continue to do until taxes on corporate profits are restored and payroll taxes are reduced.
And that will NEVER happen with Republicans running the government.

Do any of you realize why products made in China are less expensive than made here? Why are cars made in Japan cheaper than most American cars?
If you know what regulations the government sticks on us, and what unions also do to cost more, let me know.
