I saw the A's/BoSox at Fenway in 1971. Vida Blue vs. Sonny Siebert.
Not the famous May 1971 game featuring a 10-1 Blue and a 9-0 Siebert.

that rain delay allowing the Sox and A's to engage in an hour of racing
and wrestling, and running and sliding on the tarps which they had all
stretched out between the first and third base lines and those dugouts.
The delay lasted two hours, and we loved every minute of that warm rain.
Many people left or went into the tunnels to stay dry, but not my teammates
and I. We went down the to the third base seats just beyond the A's dugout,
and proceeded to have the most fun that 13 yr. olds could have back in 1971.

Bert Campaneris . . . but I remember Doug Griffin as the hero of the game.
I played Bath Ruth, second base and center field at that time, preferring CF.
Our manager (the man who took us to this game), liked me better at second.
I never complained, which meant I got to go back to CF often in the late innings.
Plus, I got to go to this game. The manager, his son, me and three other guys.
EDIT: I'm just now realizing that the blessed Fenway event described above
happened just about fifty years ago to this fortnight, not that fifty is special.
It was kind of cool to have witnessed (and recollected) any of this. Thanks.
